Hello everyone,

I bought a gorgeous little late CB11 girl home from Kempton last week.
She regurged the night I got her (I haven't fed her yet, she's on a diet of reptoboost atm) and has hidden ever since. Today I finally managed to get a quick snap of her while spot cleaning. She's in blue and has hidden her face, but she has beautiful big black eyes.
I know she's a lavender, but I'm not sure if there's something else going on with her and would appreciate your opinions/expertise!
She has a completely white belly with no checkers.
She's a possible het for hypo.
Many thanks!

Looks like she could be a diffused lavender to me Diffused and Motley remove the checkers from the belly and from what I can see she doesn't look like she has the motley patterning.

She's beautiful

I thought she looked diffused as well Moppet, as there really is very little patterning on her sides.

OMG you'd think someone selling at a show would know better than to feed so close to it - what an idiot :( Well done for just leaving her to settle - I assume you know to wait 10 days before attempting a feed after a regurge? Thought I would mention it just in case :)

Congrats - she is gorgeous

I'm with the others on this one- Especially agree with Smartbunny though, what a muppet (not you Moppet ;) ) to sell something completely wrong when it's fairly obvious it's not just a normal lavender..

It's very grey however, so I'm thinking it may not be a Plasma (lavender diffused), do you know the parents genetics at all? I'd suggest maybe a Diffused moonstone? (Diffused Anery Lavender). It's just very grey and light.. Toughie!

EITHER WAY, you got an absolute bargain if you paid Lavender price :)

Poor little mite being fed just before a show .

I Agree with Oscar on this one it does seem far to grey to be just lavender, but im with everyone else on the diffused, this may be a riddle for the Morph Master.... oh calling Eeji!

I thought "diffused" when I saw her, too. Difficult to say from the pics, but she does look almost too Gray for a lavender. Does she have a very dark red pupils? Lavenders do... If someone is silly enough to feed a snake before traveling them to show, they might not get the morphs right, either....
I think "ask eeji" would be the best solution :-)

Thank you all for your replies.

I was shocked at the regurge too tbh, the mouse was almost perfect too, so she must have been fed really recently. I know not to feed her for 10 days, but thank you (she probably won't eat until she shed's anyway). I intend to drop her down to hoppers for a couple of feeds too.

She was sold as a lavender, she was by far the lightest one there and the only female lavender they had, but her box, just like all the others, only had a sticker on the top that said 'corn snake' and the price. She didn't have any other information with her, but I asked the breeder what she was eating (small mice) and how old she was (he said 18 months initially and then said nearly 2, late 2011) but she's really small so I think she might be younger.
I asked about her morph and any possible hets and the breeder said she had motley/stripe in her and he did mention diffuse and possible het for hypo, but I didn't catch exactly what he said, he was busy and it was quite noisy.
Regardless of what she is, she's beautiful and I love her pale colouring with hints of blue and pink, very cute.
I'm not sure about her eyes, they looked really dark when I got her, but she was so stressed when I got her home that I didn't want to mess around with her too much and I've left her completely alone ever since (except for the pic while spot cleaning yesterday). She's deep in blue now, so her eyes are clouded over, but once she sheds I'll have a good look at her and grab a few more pics to see if we can solve this mystery!
Thank you again for your help!

That is a snazzy price...!! Just a note- she can't be het for Stripe and Motley. If this girl was, then she would be a visual motley stripe- as because they're allelic, it'd show. So she's either het motley OR het Stripe, that being the case. I think we've also established homo diffused also ;)

In short I don't think this person should really be breeding/selling corns if they don't have the foggiest what they're on about.

Ah I see, I'm new to the morph game (have always just gone for what I like the look of), but I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it.
I'd told the breeder that I had been looking for a lavender stripe initially, he said that there were motleys in the clutch, so she'd have the motley stripe gene in her....maybe he thought I'd be more likely to buy her if he said that (I was going to buy her anyway).
That's another bit of info to add to the memory banks - thanks!

The Motley / Stripe ones are tricky though, it takes some time to get your head around it :) It's the whole co-dominant over another specific gene and allelles.. It gets a bit much sometimes. Anyway if you know who the breeder was, get some info about the parents if at all possible, and we can take it from there.

Awesome little thing though :) Congratulations!

diffused is a good call (which would make her a plasma), can you post a belly and head shot once she's shed?

*ahem* Yeah, getting the morph quite wrong and feeding it just before taking it to a show is just not that smart. Although at least you got it for a brilliant price and it's in a good home now

I'll happily post head and belly pics once she's shed.

I'm very happy I got her and believe me she will be a spoilt little lady!

It's never bad to get more than you bargained for - even if its a little confusing!

In a few years, once they're both ready (and I know what I'm doing), I plan to put her with my boy Archimedes.
It'll be interesting to see what the results will be.

If you plan on breeding her it may be worth getting her gender confirmed just in case. The only 100% accurate way is breeding them but probing and popping are both quite accurate when done properly however both are quite invasive procedures and do carry a small amount of risk. Reptile vets, snake breeders and reptile shops will often sex a snake for you although you may need to wait until she's older/bigger depending on how confident they are with probing

Thank you, I watched the breeder pop her (and all the other lavenders) at the show and he said she was female....I must admit I'm now questioning if he was right.
It looked like an awful thing to do to a snake tbh!

I will have to think about having her probed in the future, but that's a long way off yet.

Well, Kyra shed this morning and so I thought I'd try to grab a couple of pics for you this evening.
I apologise for the quality, but Kyra didn't want to play nice and after she struck at my phone twice, my daughter lost her nerve a bit - lol!
Her belly shot and the eye shot were too blurred to be of any use, but I did look at her closely and her belly is completely white with absolutely no suggestion of checkers or any coloration at all and her pupils look slightly red in the light.
I will try again to get some clearer pic next time....providing she can stop rattling and striking long enough lol

Thank you Tally!

Marc, Thank you, but I'm afraid she has to stay with me, despite her being a naughty bitey little minx!
She struck her hopper tonight, but then dropped it. I've left it in her viv, so hopefully she'll take it during the night!
