hey guys just came home from the lps and covinced myself i needed a crestie,
i bought i 30x30x45 eco viv with light canopy/blue night light, coco stuff and orchid bark branches and plant, but was told maybe a good idea to put a heat mat under the viv to boost the temp a little and to help producing humidity (as the wet coco stuff and bark) does this sound right ? and if so where do i put the temp sensor and stat sensor on the orchid bark ?

My house is sooo warm its unreal so rudi doesnt have a heat mat. You will find alot of crestie keepers keep them at room temp just fine if they have central heating etc.

I spray once in the morning and once at night as mine is still on kitchen roll, but when shes bigger her substrate will change xx

rudi's set up (i dont have pics just now) kitchen roll substrate, toilet rolltubes on the bottom as hides (she spends the day time hidden in the hides on the bottom), dish for repashy, dish for mini mealies, milk bottle lid as dish for calcium. Shes got Bamboo lengths in her rub (shes getting a big exo terra when shes old enough) and vines etc wrapped around them for coverage

you can try a small bit of ripe mango or pear tiny bit, mush it up, or just wait for the repashy, how big are the locusts?
For just now, might be better to put down kitchen roll to see any poop, although could be poop on branches. If the locusts are an ok size, try putting them in a dish, if they can jump out, take their back legs off

They eat te size if their eye ball and it can take anywhere up to six months to fully settle. My new one that I got week before Easter has only just started eating. Depending on there size you can account for a little weight loss. Try not to hand feed as they like it too much and get acussomed to it and would rather you feed them. I spray once a day and have kitchen roll in all mine. The girls have a moss box each and my male has a coconut hide with miss in. Generally they sleep in the foliage they normally sleep on the floor close to a shed. Heat wise, although room temp is fine 20-23 and a night time of 16-20. It's good to have a warm spot in the viv so they can thermo regulate. I find that the uv bulbs create a 4 degree gradient which seems to work fine. Food wise clarks or repashy are the best IMO. I feed live twice a week but only one of mine eats it lol I offer roaches, hoppers and crix as mealies have been found,in some animals, to cause impaction as they can't digest the shell. Mine all drink out if their water dishes. And depending in the size of your crestie it won't be long before you upgrade the viv size. I feed fresh fruit mixed with their cgd once a week with a spot of manuka honey x
