People who don't like it when I attach human emotions to a snake for fun :P I like to kinda of think my snake is happy even if I know in the back of my head they don't have emotions like that. I like to kind of think for a second when I put in a new log and they slither on it they are like "mummy! I has new log!" just because it's kind of funny even though I know they don't think like that. Saying that though, I only do that to 2 of the 5 snakes I have but those dudes are very special to me.

I hate it when people keep buying and getting snakes despite the fact they do not have the room now or in the future for when they are all fully grown. Also "I'm selling as I have no time" is rather annoying, it only works if you have a massive collection and are selling off a fair bit of it.

A very special super, duper thanks for K :3

Obviously I'm attached to my snakes, but what I meant was, it annoys me when people attach emotions to the animal not the other way round.

Also people that "help" a snake escape then whinge when it's obviously, disappeared.

People who ask "Why do you keep snakes?". It's my hobby.

I never say to them "Why do you play golf?", for the same reasons.

Battery charged :D

Agreed with spreebok on the 'starter snake' thing, especially when owners of big snakes look down on us for keeping 'worms'.
People who have had a single dog tame snake for a week or two then post stupid comments like 'I want a poisonous snake but don't know which one to get, please help me choose, how do I get a DAW license, etc'
Royal python 'morphs' - are some of them really morphs, because they look just like normals to half the population?
'Is my royal a morph' posts on forums
Royal Pythons.... nuff said :D
People that don't use thermostats and refuse to take the advice given by everyone else
People that buy a snake and don't have the remotest idea what species it is therefore can't look after it properly
'How should I defrost pinkys' threads - Duhhhhhhh.......
Burberry cap wearing idiots who think their 40 foot python is a p***s extension

.....does this make me sound old and grumpy?

another thing i dont like is people blaming their animals for their mistakes, say if a regurge occured, i know a few ppl who instead of going "oopsies what have I done wrong" They'd think "stupid snake doesnt even know how to keep its meal down"

People who say 'shredding' instead of 'shedding'!! Does my head in haha. And people who make threads saying 'I've just bought an amel corn snake, what shall I breed it to to make high end morphs that I can sell' it irritates me that a) people only buy animals as breeding machines and are only interested in making a few quid and b) they clearly don't understand the genetics of snakes so why try breeding them if they don't know anything! That one might be a bit high and mighty but it really irritates me!

People that don't understand breeding doesn't rake in the £££! Especially in corn snakes..! You'd be lucky to make back your expenses of food and electric and housing etc etc, and asking for a tidy profit? pfft.

were never happy until were having a good old moaning session,
1 thing that does tick me off a bit though is people selling an orange or black and white corn snake for petes sake read some info on the blooming things before you put an ad up grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

what has annoyed me when i was looking for a couple of snake was that the pet shop owners would just tell you anything to sell you the most expensize things they can, one guy tried to sell me a 4ft glass tank the heat lamps and said that i would never need a stat and that the snake bask in the daytime and sleep all night! its difficult not to say anything to them and when your a novice like me its hard to know who is right and who is wrong in the beginning. so in the end i went with a local store who i sadley will not be going too often as bith snakes seemed slightly underweight and they had far too many in stock to ever sell in the next 6 months. but he was genuine answered all my questions and new all the correct facts. i think that some store owners know enough to start the snakes off but when they get to the stage that they need different food or more space they just carry on treating thm as hatchlings. rant over :)

couple of things really nark me , putting ur trust in rep stores (especially in the beginning of the hobby ) and they let u down and give incorrect advice / support . U expect to be able to trust a pet store !

Second is when u see people posted wanted ads expecting something for nothing with titles such as "snake wanted - cheap or free " they then follow the add with must be cheap or free as i dont have much money :/

I dont mind anyone attaching human emotions to things , we do it with everything does , cats , hamsters , they are all our babies or "kids" and we all kno deep down that they cant hear us and dont understand what we are rattling on about when we talk to them , they are still my kids lol!

Rep shops that sell a load of big bodied snakes that get like 10ft - 14ft and seem to know everything about them and how to care yet, know diddly ****e and have hardly any corns, milks all the kind of smaller, easier to look after and generally better for beginner snakes so try and flog them the massive ones so that they end up being dumped and thrown into the river near me with a bin bag with a brick in the bag or talk ****e about the info and care for the smaller snakes.

New to snake keeping so can't really comment, but what annoys me with my other hobby are those people who ask for advice on how or what to do and then go and do what they want with total disregard of the info they have been provided with - why ask in the first place if not prepared to take it on board!

Vets who claim to snake experts but when confronted with a NORMAL corn snake say "Oh what a pretty colour, what kind of snake is he?"

Agreeing with spreebok and eeji with the "starter snake" thing, and the way people with larger snakes look down on corn owners. I don't have a corn because i'm not experienced or good enough to have a retic. I have Corns because i love them, there beautiful snakes, why does it matter if there not 20ft and fed on rabbits!

Mislabeled snakes and bad information given by shops.

Dancross0 - agreeing on the "Why would you want a pet snake? they don't do anything" Because personally i like reptiles in particular snakes. Of corse saying back to them "Why would you want to keep a pet dog, they stink?" would be classed as rude.

As for the talk on snake emotions.
I don't mind people putting human emotions on snakes, it only becomes an issue if that person actually believes that there snake has emotions. Most people on this site use words like Happy as a short cut to describe a snake that is alert, healthy and active. Like wise Angry for a snake that doesn't like being handled and bites or sad for one that stays in its hid all the time. We know they don't feel emotions but it adequately describes the type of snake they are.
And anyway i personally give everything emotions :P my computer hates me atm because i keep installing new programs and its slowing down and freezing . Where as my scanner is very happy as it has never broken.
