People who get hatchlings in nice little fauns and then more hatchlings and more hatchlings with no thought to where they are going to put those hatchlings when they have grown. People who keep buying more reps with no means to pay emergency vet bills. People who want a 'friend' for their snake but really want something they can breed in the vain hope that they will make money. And all those that breed with no thought to where the babies are going to go. Biggest one - those that ask for advice but then actively argue against that advice grr |

Whats worse is when its followed by a comment like "Why don't you get a hamster instead?" I usually answer along the lines of "I buy two a week, snakes really do eat a lot!"
I got very angry over the phone at a lady for the PDSA. They where all happy to help with medical costs, until they learned that Cherry was a snake. Now, i would have been fine if this woman had just politely said "Sorry we don't deal with reptiles" However what she chose to say was " WHAT!! a snake! you want help with a snake? snakes aren't pets"

Most people are fascinated when I say I keep snakes and ask questions . I hate when people call me weird or even better "ur a freak " Snake keepings my hobby , jog on if u don't like it , I don't like golf but I wudnt call someone weird because of it .
I also do hate wen ur looked down on by big snake keepers or breeders , even people who have more experience . I've only been keeping snakes a year , I will make mistakes and I wil keep learning . I don't keep corns anymore as I love boas and they need abit more room and my house isn't huge , but I still love corns and the people on this forum as u get to kno everyone and their snakes thru the year etc |

I'm often refered to as weird because I keep snakes and talk to them, it doesn't bother me at all. I talk to all my pets, its great they can't answer back or argue with me.
It really bugs me when people say that snakes have no emotions how can anyone say this unless they themsleves are a snake (of the slithering kind). |

My fiance who says "If you buy a python/boa, it will escape and eat you!" I doubt that would actually happen. Mini geckos it is then! Also, I was watching this program over Christmas which included a person who'd been caught for fraud, and they said something along the lines of "She had budgerigars, a hamster, a SNAKE and MICE IN THE FRIDGE!". It's like, fine, she's a bad person, but they said nothing about whether these animals were being cared for well, it was more about the fact it was a snake - and of course you might have mice in the fridge if you were going to feed your snake that day! I attach human emotions to my snake as well. When I got him back from the reptile shop after Christmas I reckoned he was grumpy with me, sulking and didn't want to come out to play - the fact that my brain told me he was in blue and about to shed wasn't the point! |

Have to agree with those who have mentioned petshops who sell snakes and offer incorrect advice, I've had experience of this and didn't appreciate it! I now use two shops who are brill and know the'r stuff
Obviously people who call my snakes disgusting are also not on my christmas card list...although I've made one convert this year already! |

oooh, I have one that will probably REALLY irritate/annoy/upset many people on here.
I was having the discussion with one of the girls from work yesterday about what tastes nicer, Fox or Snake. Now snake is yummy, I've never tried fox. We have now decided to cook the same meal at some point in the future with snake meat and fox meat to see once and for all what is nicer.
There you go, something to not like this reptile keeper for.
Just to add, I see all my animals as pets, I'd never treat them any less than I would like to be treated myself. I am quite anthropomorphistic with many things including my snakes. I greet them in the morning and ask how they slept, I will regularly talk to them, oddly enough I'm the same with my cars/bikes. The cars and bikes all have names, they get referred to them by name and i talk to them. My family know what car I'm on about when I mention the names. Josephine, Rose, Angela and Jessica. However I am also aware that animals are meat, meat is food, food is tasty... And I don't like seeing food go to waste. |

Pasta bake duck is actually very nice, how many people remember the ducklings in the fridge/freezer that I posted??? Originally gonna be boa foods, but 'her indoors' forced me to allow them to live. |

mmm, pasta bake duck...
Just people who rush into buying a pet/snake because they "have" to have it right this second. There is no need to rush!! Oh, and there is no need to get a snake just because I have a snake either! Other than that...just people who say pacific instead of specific, oh...and Phillip Schofield |

Anyone else ever been told the 'is it true about a snake that lined himself up next to it's owner and was measuring him to see if he could eat him or not?' story??
If I had a quid for everytime I heard that, I'd be rolling in morphs. |

Augh i'm sick of hearing that one. Like a snake needs to measure themselves up to see if they can eat. I've started to tell people that yes it is true, and that in the wild snakes will often sneak down rabbits burrows at night to measure themselves up against the rabbits. Thats how they know which rabbit they can attach and eat the next day. |

People that try and flog a snake that's not worth anything for a heck of a lot of money and then try and justify it by saying that "it comes with a viv and stuff that cost £150", which is fine but they expect to get that much money back on stuff which is effectively second hand. |
