Lewy's been lazy again Tizzy. He's a bad man
Dervish is doing great. There is about 5-7 wild types, and the one with the biggest head has been nominated as my Dervish. We have decided that all the wild types are boys and the albinos are girls. This works well because all the albinos seem to hang about together and the wild types are always in a gang too. Both groups ignore each other which is just like pre-pubescent kids anyway
We think we have about 14 in there, but we aren't sure because they are so good at hiding. Some are growing really fast though, so I'm sure they are doing well. All except one wild type that looks a bit small and doesn't seem well. I hope he pulls through, but it seems he might not be eating as good as his brothers |

Bad news- all the axies have died except one.
Gutted. Dervish is the one that is still living so our fingers and toes are crossed for him. He was twice the size of some of the others though, so hoping he's strong enough to survive whatever is killing them off. Moved him to new tank, with new water, different food, no filter and fewer plants. Hopefully one of those things is the problem and then he should be alright.
16 gone in 48 hours. My little heart is in tatters |

It's ok, it's just distressing. We did loads of research before they came so I'm hoping it's nothing we've done. Think it's just one of those things. |

Its difficult. We had the same problem at uni, several hundred eggs would be born and only 2 or 3 would make it to adulthood (or even past the 4cm size). Im guessing its something to do with the genetics as opposed to how they were kept, or as us scientists call it "a bad batch". Sorry for your loss, they were cute lil guys/girls :{ |

sorry to hear that kaz, just wondering is the same as with fish where you have to cycle the water first to get the right amonia, nitrite, nitrate levels, just thinking that you may of had a spike in levels. But then again going by what ell said it could just be natural selection.fingers crossed for dervish. |

Have you tried using rainwater?? I use it with fishtanks, it's much better for most aquatic animals than chemically altered water. |
