Me and Kaz decided to try our hand at Axolotls We've got the food cultures on the way (enough to last them until they are big enough to eat normal sized food)... and we got the spawn yesterday!
Day 1 - The dots are introduced to their new home, Dervish (not named the rest yet) relaxes while his insides develop:
There will be a day-to-day Photo Diary on the amphibian if anyone would like to keep an eye on the progress:

Where'd you get the spawn from? I've got another tank coming....... You can see where that question is leading can't you? |

Someone on the dark side is selling 10 eggs for £8, which is more expensive than what we paid, but not that bad. It's in the amphibian classifieds.
We paid £8 for approx. 20 eggs (but I've only counted 16) |

Spare Tanks = more pets. Lewy can't be trusted
I'm already fighting to get a Cane toad, Mantellas, a boa, some tree frogs and some chickens out of his head |

How did all of those get into his head?? Has Lewy got REALLY big nostrils??
Mind you, my missus is quibbling with me as well. I've been offered a 4ft fish tank for a fiver, make a lovely viv with that. And I 6ft tall, by 4ft wide, by 2ft deep wooden gas bottle cupboard that'd make a nice big arboreal viv or viv stack, without much modification. He should definately be allowed the chickens. |

Wow its a shame I wasn't on this site last year, I could have gotten you an unlimited supply of free spawn from the uni I was at. We had loads of them and they just kept breeding :s |

Well hopefully we'll have a little brood soon. There's two I'm worried about but the others seem to be developing well.
Everyone needs to come to our house one weekend and dig a massive pond in the garden- then I can keep them all and not have to sell any |

I agree with the chicken thing - Fresh eggs each morning has got to be good - when do your ducks start laying eggs? or are you saving them for the pot?
The estimated date for point of lay with my ducks is 22nd march. Not long now. Although i'm still considering the pot idea, but the missus isn't having any of it. |
