One of my hatchies is all kinked, I know this is from calcium defficiency but apart from that I don't know what to do I know kinked snakes have problems their whole lives and I don't wanna write the little guy off before he's had his chance. The kinking is bad and it's all the way up his body he can't even really move that well just kind of spazzes about to where he needs to be, my brother has said he will take him/her but If it's gonna cos him loads in vet bills I dunno if that's the best plan, I not I'm not in the position here to keep him either, infact I'm not keeping any of this clutch. I'm just after advise if I'm honest, I thought he would have to be put to sleep but the guys at my rep shop said he might recover I'll get pics up as soon as I can but if any one here wants him he's free and I'll deliver within reason, after the first 2 weeks obviously. :( |

Trying not to sound horrible - vets bills wont really be a factor, there is nothing they can do for it. Its something you have to decide about wether you think its in pain or not. |

It it can't really move I would do the kindest thing for it, if it's as bad as it sounds it could die anyway... there could be other problems with it.
Maybe get a vet to see if it's that bad first though.
That's really sad though sadly, it's just one of those things...
Is it feeding and drinking ok? |

PTS is put to sleep I would assume Azzheasman.
I am the same as a couple of the others, no advise for you....just so sorry you are in this situation.
If it seems as though it is doing a bit better and can move a bit maybe it is worth waiting until the first shed and see how it feeds before making any decision?
But I know nothing about this, all I do know is that I wouldnt want to keep a snake alive if I thought it was in any pain or if its quality of life was suffering - although I know that must be a very hard thing to judge with a snake.
I do hope things improve or you can make your decision quickly and PTS.

:0 i am sorry about your lil one and i hope it does eat and shed ok
but i do agree with the others if it seems in pain and having probs then i would have to make the horriable decision.. but i would give him a chance 1st :D because he deserves that at least :D

aw poor little guy tbh only you can make the decision, with the most severe kink being by the tail you might have to wait and see if his digestive system is completely formed or if the kink affects him pooping in any way before you can do that though, he looks a real sweetie though, poor lil fella |

We got another one this morning it's tail was also kinked but it's barely noticable I think it could be from being in the eggs so long these ones are 4 days later then the others it's the last of the good eggs. Thing is now I'm worried about milkys eggs what you recon

imo = in my opinion pts = put to sleep
with a tail that badly kinked then I wouldn't hesitate to euthanise. There is a huge chance that it will affect the vent/cloaca which means it won't be able to poo properly and the sexual organs won't have developed properly either :(
I had one last year that was similar, but the deformities were even worse with the hemipenes developed outside the body which dried up shortly after hatching. |

There's a chance that it could be ok though right?
Ohhh they look like they are going to hatch soon! I don't think them being in the eggs so long would effect it although I'm not 100%. Is it possible that it's something being passed on by one of the parents even though they look normal? I guess it could be one of those things though too you your just very unlucky. I really hope these next set of egg hatch out ok for you :( bless the poor little thing..
Is there anyway you can get it to a vet before you feed it, if you haven't already? They should be able to see if it's really going to effect him or not as they should be able to see somehow if it's going to effect any organs.
Is that a kink near his head as well? Can he move his head a lot at that point if it is a kink?
I really do hope thing's go well..poor little guy. How old are they now?

I agree with eeji as well yea he has 3 kinks in the tail and two kinks further up, eeji I know it's a daft question but one of the snakes he's a dried up three hanging out of the vent is that the hemipenis or do they have umbilcals he's happy enough with no other deformities, thanks guys I will get in contact with the vet tommorrow |

Aww that's really sad as well... poor little guy...
Snakes do have umbilical cords as I saw part of it hanging of my mardy hatchie and it kind of left a dried mark/scab when it came off somehow but he's fine.
But the umbilical never looked like it came from the vent, it was around that area but I'm sure it defiantly never came from the vent. |

Yea after looking at that there's no chance it's the hemipenis it's deffo the umbilical chord I got a pretty good look today he was very calm and it's about a centimeter above the vent, I'll call the vets tomorrow and let you know what they say. |

Hope you dont mind me asking this in the middle of all your worries about your babies Azzheasman, but it is on the topic.
Eeji....what causes the kinks? Does anyone know? Could it be lack of calcium, too much time in the egg, a genetic abnormality passed on by the parents or something else?
This thread just got me thinking and I wondered why......
