Yeh I've been using Maya's black and white checkers XD. And then I just get lazy if Planar mapping doesn't work and just automatic map and and then join them together XD You make me really want to model a character I drew now :(
Thanks so much for the link ^^ Can I be rude to ask what you do as a living? |
A very special super, duper thanks for K :3 |

Is this thread hijacked? Lol.
Azzheasman - That bike is awesome, although I can't see a seat on it and I don't relish the idea of sitting on them spikes You may have missed the earlier link to 2 projects I have done. http://thegraffixtablet.com/ I used Max for years and years, but when I came across Maya, it took ages to make the transition, but I find maya to more fluent. Saying that though, I didn't spend much time exploring what I could do with the interface in Max, plus the learning DVD's were as available then as they are now.
Sta~ple - I love the dark angel type woman with the scythe and the vampire type snakey woman That UVLayout is pretty cool, if you have the plugin, you click a button on the shelf, and Maya opens UVL and sends the model there. All you have to do is click along the texture seem where you want it, hit enter and it drops it onto a UV canvas, and you flatten it. You still have to tidy it up some back in maya but it's a hell of a lot easier than creating the maps then moving each UV in Maya.

I would love to learn max, I wish more of the comps at uni had it as it sees to be the most used program in the games industry and there's like a billion tutorials for max :p
I would love to help you on your project! Are you really offering a noob like me a chance? I don't understand a lot of stuff right now so I would probably be useless :(
Thanks Mick, I'm slowly getting there now that I have found my new favourite drawing program since Photoshop is a meany. That's some amazing work o.o; all those little details are beautiful! Was it made for a game? |

No it wasn't for anything special. I'm abit of a Trek fan, and I had a Shuttlecraft model in the attic that I dug out, and the Dreadnought was based on a Games Workshop model for the tabletop battle game Warhammer 40K. And I still have the models to those in the attic as well. Just fancied modelling them. The dreadnought I was planning and started to texture, but I'm not really a texture artist, I love the modelling side of things.
I don't do this for a living either, it's more a hobby. To be honest I don't think I would seek to do it professionally as I get bored easy So very few of my projects get finished. |

Just a quick note to add, some of you 3d guys might like this: http://www.sculptris.com/ and others might want to try it just to have a playaround. I highly recommend having a look at the other made images and the video as well. |

Never heard of that one before, its looks very interesting though. I think I will have a play at some point in the hoildays. I'm sorry I haven't had the chance to add you Azzheasman, MSN says I have a keyport error :/ I'll be sure to add you though once I fix it.

That Scupltris is so like Zbrush, not sure if it is used by the pros, but another program worth adding to the enterage never the less. Thanks. |
