Hi all. Just wanted to say thankyou for all the fab advice on here. After reading a thread about someone having trouble with their snake not feeding, I took the advice given of putting the food in the snake's hide. We've had the snake 11 days and had no joy with feeding it but we put two pinkies in there today and when we came home they were gone so just wanted to say thank you for the advice. My little girl will be over the moon as she was worried it might never eat and die - she's a melodramatic nearly 8 year old.

Anyway, thanx again.

Teresa

Its always such a relief when a snake eats for the first time, no matter how long you've had it.

Atleast you know what technique to use now when it comes to feeding. Some snakes are just shyer(if thats a word?) than others i guess.

I am so glad that your snake ate Teresa....I know what it is like to bring a snake home as a newbie and not have it feed. When I first got Kellog he refused his first feed with me and continued to refuse for 13 weeks in total! He was being fed every 5 days and after a couple of refused feeds I found this forum and they helped me work out why (he was horny ) and what to do....dont know what I would have done without them cos they kept me sane during those long weeks....and they havent been able to get rid of me since! I can totally understand your little girl being worried - I thought I was going to kill Kellog cos I was doing something wrong !! So I guess I was being melodramatic as well !!

Hopefully as your snake begins to feel more safe and less stressed it may become less shy....but time will tell. All that is important is that it is eating .

Has your daughter come up with a name yet or are we still waiting til her birthday for it to be revealed ?

And no thanks necessary - this is exactly what the forum is for !!

Still waiting on the name front I'm afraid. She has a (long) list of possibles. Her favourites at the moment are Sleeves (as it's always trying to go up hers), Sunset, Cotton, Hagrid and Orange (pronounced the French way). Will let you know as soon as I do.

:-)

Sunset is perfect, the colours are so right and it could be called Sunny for short ! Not quite sure whether Hagrid suits it ....
