He's off the beef heart for a while and back onto mice which have more calcium.

And Sitka is a normal stripe- and he's a boy.

He was a rescue, is now pushing 4 foot long but only weighs 150g. He is slowly gaining weight though, and is shedding quite often, a good sign he is expanding!

Beef heart has more protein and is easier to digest than mice and rats, and he was in dire need of a serious pick-me-up after a regurge problem which is caused by long term internal parasites.

I cant believe how well Croc is doing considering what the vet said when she first saw him ....I dont think she expected him to make it.

But he is just so blessed to have you as his owner as there was no way you were giving up on him and your hard work is paying off - he is looking so much better than those first pics we saw, despite what he has gone through since then! I just hope and pray he keeps the mice down.

Just the fact he is blue and shedding shows how well he is growing! He is such a stunning snake ....I seem to remember GP saying that he was the best example of a miami she had seen (or that could be a brain fog moment ) and it is beginning to show more and more....but must have pics after he has shed!

Sitka is stunning (and one of my favourite names on the forum ). He certainly seems to be taking that fuzzy with relish ....so good to see.

xxx

I get it although how do they know that the beef is food since it won't smell like mouse or does the blood make it attractive to them?

Tbh I think Croc would eat a bit of paper if I drew a picture of a mouse on it, his feeding response is mental!! I have heard that most will eat it, but it does smell funny, so maybe you would have to assist feed some snakes. Thank god I didn't need to do it with him!!

Thanks Ju, I too think Sitka is a very pretty little snake! Hopefully Croc continues to improve, hes a wee fighter in every sense of the word!
