Hi Sam, it sounds like it. My boys go dull and a bit darker all over their bodies for about a week and then their eyes go a blue/grey colour (apparently snakes with eyes that are normally red do not get blue eyes, they just go a bit cloudy). The eyes will then go back to normal and a few days to a week or so later they will shed.

I don't handle mine when they are blue as they can't see very well and prefer to hide away where they feel safe. Twilight should be shedding about Saturday according to his records (you can start to spot a pattern after a while). I hope you're lucky enough to get to see it - I managed to spot Twilight once when he was shedding and it's awesome. They look so much bigger afterwards too.

Don't worry Sam, you don't have to do anything special - just let him get on with it himself. If by any chance he has trouble shedding cleanly then post again as there are some simple steps you can take to help him and lots of advice available on here. Hopefully he'll be absolutely fine without intervention though.

Put him back for a start, leave him be for now, he won't be able to see properly and is more likely to get stressed and bite. You can try and feed, if his regular feed time is whilst he is cloudy, but don't expect him to feed. No point misting at the moment, give it 4 or 5 days then maybe a mist once or twice a day. That's about it.

Casper and Reggie shed absolutely fine and don't need any help, Candy shed this morning but she has a slightly dodgy tail, something happened before i got her and now she dosnt have full movement of her tale, so i put a damp hide in and it all came off ok, although it was in 2 pieces but there is nothing really bad about that.

Personally i would just allow it to shed alone with nothing added to assist the first time so you can see how they shed, if you feel next time that they may need a little assistance then you can add a damp hide or an extra water bowl next time.

As mentioned let him shed on his own at first to see how he sheds on his own. When he sheds, it is normal for it to break in one or two places (though I've had many of them whole); it still means he's shed ok, just that it tore as he's shed. If its in more than a few pieces and/or its patchy and you need to help him take it off (there are a few tips- just ask if this is the case) then he would need a moist hide (damp moss in a box basically) or misting with future sheds, though it often improves.

Make sure when he's shed that there is two eye caps in the shed skin (retained eye caps can be very dangerous). Also check that the very tip of his tail has also shed as this is quite a common problem- perhaps not quite as serious as retained eye caps, but needs checking all the same.

Good luck & I hope he sheds ok on his own. The UK is quite humid anyway, even in our homes, so it tends to help.
