My snake goes directly to the cold end of his viv instead of the hot side. is there any reason for this? or does he not know better?

As long as the temps are right (not to hot in the warm end) Im sure its fine. Khan generally heads for the nearet hide after a feed and then sorts himself out when noone is about watching him.

Same as Rik here. Mine tend to go for the nearest hide then a little while later slither to the warm bit. To be on the safe side though check your temps are right.
