spagnum moss is used by most for a humid box when shedding

spagnum moss tends to be used when in shed to give extra humidity, its probably not the best thing to use as a substrate as it does raise the humidity which could cause your snake to get an RI if it gets too high..
if i were you i would stick with the aspen and chippings

i will try and remove the moss then from his substrate, it will be hard as it is mixed in, any ideas how to remove it without taking out most of the other substrate as it is all brand new.

moss is only used for corns in there hides for helping shedding not for substrate as it will higher the humidity which can cause RI and sometimes scale rot. Stay with the aspen. Be easier to take out what you have in there and put fresh aspen in :D

I use sphagnum moss in my hides only. Not as a substrate. It's definately safe but I don't know about using it as a substrate =s
