hey guys just wanna show off my new viv i just built all by myself
moving chester from here, cos i just dont think he is happy here(feeding normally but just not as active, hides alot) into a smaller one.

This is where he is now

and this is where he is going

B&Q cut them all to size for me from one piece of 200cm X 60cm board. (nice people)

it starts to take shape

almost done

add edgeing tape, glass, small light and heat mat.
sorted!

A 24x15x15 wooden viv built for under £30 (not including mat)

just wanted to show you guys that you dont always have to spend alot to have a good set up.

that looks really professional! I'm just in the process of converting an old cupboard unit into a viv. Got vents, runners and door handles from a girl on ReptileForumsUK, aquarium-grade silicone from the local petshop for sealing the joins, I'm just waiting for the glass doors to arrive (that should have been delivered today..... but weren't)
The cupboard's got various holes drilled in it that were for fitting it to a wall, I've sealed them but it still looks like a converted cupboard, lol. will have to get some pics

If you enjoyed building that, then maybe it could be a good business venture for you.

I paid £100 for a viv similar to that in a snake shop

thats wot made me build it, trying to cut costs. gonna build a 3x1.5x1.5 this week. reckon it will cost about 35quid and they are about 90 on 888reps site and are flat packed so you still have to build it yourself.

Hi Dazb, just wondering where the two smaller peices go and what are their sizes. Looks a really good viv. and would be the ideal size for Cecil in the near future.

How did you get the heatmat in, or more like, if it breaks, how will you get a new one in?

When i did mine i cut the plug off and put the cable through a hole and rewired it to a timebox. If tou still want it to be on a plug just unscrew the plug, thread the cable through and rewire it the same way. You can also cut the cable shorter before you rewire it if you want to (just make sure you strip the cables). If it breaks just do the opposite and replace it with another one.
