Made out of an old ikea TV stand/ coffee table thing. I basically cut it down to the sizes I wanted and stuck it all together. Used some backing from an old bookshelf for the back. It measures 3ftx2ft.
It's not quite finished as I need to add the vents, do the glass sliders and cut the persprex etc but thats a quick job so here is the frame.

Use AQUARIUM sealant around all inside edges. And the little things are called screw caps. You can get two types. One that goes on before the screw(like a washer with a lid attatched), or the simple push on type you can get from B&Q or Wilkinsons etc. If you use the push on type, don't use inside the viv as they have a habit of falling off. |

If you look on the tubes it should tell you how much coverage you can get out of a tube. As a rough guide, the large tube that you use in a gun will give you about 11m @ 6mm bead size. Your viv will probably need about 8m of sealant. You need to seal every internal joint, not forgetting the inside of the front. So I would suggest the big tube. You don't wabt to run out in the middle of the job. If you are not used to sealants, it will probably make a mess, so make sure you have plenty of damp rags available, both for cleaning your hands and for any mistakes made inside the viv. Hope this is of help. |

Heya
I just finished sealing a Viv just slightly smaller in depth to yours and the small sealant was just enough , I would go bigger . This was my first time and thought the finish may be very poor , what I did was get a plastic medicine spoon and a cloth to wipe it on . I sealed each edge then ran the back of the spoon down the sealant , tbh it was a very proffesional finish , was well pleased , try that :) |

I believe it was Geocel aquarium sealant from the local aquarists , give it a few days to cure and all is fine , smells like very strong vinegar but that soon goes away . |

Micks Top Tip: run your bead in the joint them lick your finger before smoothing it in, sealant done stick to spit lol ;) Just remember to check your finger before the next lick , just incase.. |

what will using the sealant actually achieve? Surely the viv doesn't HAVE to be water tight or am I missing something? |
