Hi everyone.

I'm a bit stuck with this- Boris has been on smalls for a few months now, and these past few weeks I've noticed how he hoovers them up really quickly and they don't leave a bump- so I got some mediums last week, but they seem much to big for him width wide- there seems to be a big jump between smalls and mediums here- I did ask for large smalls but there didn't seem to be any difference in their width.

So I'm not sure what to do- do people ever feed their snakes 2 smalls in the one sitting or is it too much for snakey? He now weighs 125g, I haven't measured his length in these past few weeks, I will do that monday-ish as he was fed this afternoon.

He has a nice loaf shape to him and is fed once a week.

Any advice appreciated!

Try weighing the mice - if there is a big jump and the mediums are about the same as double smalls then feed doubles for a bit, but if the mediums are only about 1/2 as much again (as they probably will be) I'd try a medium - if a small isn't leaving a bump then he'll probably manage no problem... it's always nerve-wracking going up a size!

They sound like small smalls if they're not leaving a bump in a 125g snake. My Andromeda is 155g and she's still getting a good bulge on a large small.

If the widest part of the mediums isn't more than 1.5 times as wide as his widest part then he should be able to eat them but at 125g perhaps they would be too big. If not then I would continue to feed smalls, maybe you could give him a small and a fluff a couple of times? I sometimes feed my adult female two mediums in a sitting but she's a fair bit bigger than your little guy.

Cut the legs off when frozen and roll them.
If he's not on 2 smalls yet, then try 1 small and a fuzzie.
Better to gradually increase size than to massive jump.
We have known people to 'accidentally' feed their snakes large amount to often, usually with the cry of "oops, I did it again", it is so refreshing to see someone checking on making sure it's a good amount. Well Done Hayley.
