Very sorry to hear what happened to Albi, Lee. Could you have done more? Perhaps, and that is what we keep thinking about after such a terrible thing. What matters most though, is that you did what you thought was right, even came here and asked for more advice, and tried even more to help him get out. That it didn't help in the end is awful, but you did all you knew and all you could, and that is what really matters in the end. I'm glad to read that the whole thing hasn't put you off keeping snakes, and having a little break before getting a new one is a very respectable thing to do.
At least Albi is at peace now, and I hope you will find / have found peace of mind as well.
