As per my previous post, I tried the olive oil and trying to break the wood, but there wasnt anyway i could do is safely. Anyway all his struggling got the best of him, i think some internal damage must have been done, because i found him dead today.

Still in shock, never had a pet die before, blame myself slightly cos i feel there must have been one more think i could have done....

ill keep a look on here... cant ever replace him but not sure if im fit to have a snake after this... see you guys in a bit.

Aww man! im so sorry. i got all choked up at this post :(
These things can happen, i understand you can never replace a pet but dont feel you cannot look after snakes just because of this situation. I wont speak for everyone but im here for a chat if youd need it.
RIP albi.

Thanks Hayley, I'm sure you are right. Took the wind out of my sails a little bit. It was the worse weekend for it to happen. I just moved to hove, so don't know any vets and couldn't get one quick enough it seems. Thank you for the support I am sure there will be a few people on here mind that might think i could have done more. Sorry guys.

Dont take in the negative things people say, TO YOU, you know you did all you could. Some things are out of our hands. Your confidence will come back in time. I know the feeling. Who knows it may come back so quick you jump in the deep end and get an anaconda! aha

That's so sad.
Unfortunately sometimes we have to learn from our mistakes.
It will make you a better owner if you decide to get another snake.
I'm not good with words but I hope you understand what I mean by that, it's not a put down but trying to get the positive from a negative situation.
RIP little snake xx

So sorry to hear of your loss.
Hind site is a wonderful thing, but don't blame your self for Albi's demise. It is so easy to think 'if only' I had thought he might get stuck.
Even if you had managed to get him free it is still feasible he had suffered too much stress and internal damage from trying to squeeze through the hole.
You are not a bad owner, give yourself some time and get a new snake when you feel you are ready.
Sending Hugs for your loss

So sorry to hear it ended like this Don't beat yourself up over it everybody makes mistakes and I think a lot of people also would not have seen the risk of trapping. As long as we learn from our mistakes it doesn't make them pointless.

Hi,

It's a shame to read this. :(.

However you did all you could, unfortunately it's one of the least pleasurable parts of pet keeping. I'm sure the most experienced keepers have had animals die through no fault of their own. You clearly love your animals so I don't doubt for one minute it was intentional and you did nothing.

Chin up, the lesson here is possibly double and triple check to snake proof your viv and everything in it.

There's no guilt or harm or shame in getting another quickly.

:)

Perhaps, i dont think there are any breeder in brighton/hove.... and i dont want to buy shop ones. Id prefer a hatchie, maybe a tessera motley or something, but getting one too soon. feels somewhat heartless

Look I know this will not replace your dear Albi-Here's a little guy to think about;

His D.O.B 15/11/11 eats just about anything, small mice/good size rat pups/small rat fuzz or any left over fuzzy mice after feeding everyone else!
His (temporary) name is 'sherbet'and he is friendly as they come-I think he is a Creamsicle Stripe-He's good enough to handle for school's 'show and tell.
Please understand this is a genuine offer-no pressure-he's enjoying life where he is
