As per title, it's the Living Earth temperature thermostat (max 300 watts) version. I have two of these, one for both Nevis and Millie, and as is supposed to happen, when Nevis' is set to the right temp the sensor light extinguishes. However Millie's sensor light is on constantly, turning the dial full left and full right does nothing, the light remains lit, so I assume the sensor is at fault. What are the likely dangers/issues here? I imagine the heat mat will stay on as the light is on so she won't freeze but I fear the mat could get overly hot which could be a burn risk to Millie? Any ideas on what I should do til I can get a new sensor to protect Millie? Thank you

Hey. If it were me, i'd remove the mat and get a new stat. She will be fine until you get a new one - if you leave the mat without a stat, it has a chance of overheating, and i have seen pictues of snakes with burns due to this - not nice

All i would say is don't feed her until you have the mat/stat back in to reduce the chance of regurge.

Is the sensor on the heatmat ?? it may off moved and be giving a faulse reading
If the sensor has died i dont no if you can get them seperatly it may be easer to replace the thermastal

The heat mat plugs into the stat and still is but the sensor is not triggering it to say that it's at the temp the dial set at so there fore constantly on, will the heat mat heat by the temperature on the dial because the sensor is not telling the stat that its at that temp ?

Staying on thats what I'm concerned about it on and the sensor is not turning it off when it gets to the right temp but will it heat past the level that the stat is set at ?

if ya not sure just turn it off until you get thermometer. i know a while ago there was some confusion over the lights on some mat stats as they changed them about.

Definitely agree with a33272, unfortunately . It does sound as though there may be an issue but you'll be able to tell better once you've got the digital thermometer in and can monitor what the actual temperature is that the heatmat is getting to. I'm assuming the probe for the thermostat is lying flat on the heatmat?

And, as everyone has said, turn off the heatmat for now and don't feed Millie until the problem is sorted. Don't worry, she can easily go without food and its better she went hungry than you feed her when the mat is off and risk a regurge.

Xxx
