As requested pics of me and jack jumping
this was the first ditch he ever jumped
and this one is the first time i took him jumping
it didn't scan very well onto the computer!
hopefull i'll have some more later on in the year, I hoping to get that elusive clear round out of him!
Razee you should defianly give the beach a go it is so much fun! |

A truly horrible problem - I very nearly lost my first event horse through it. I was doing an unaffiliated 3-day event and she tied up in the 10 minute box prior to going xc. She was horse ambulanced approx 400yards to her temporary stabling and cold hosed for nearly an hour to cool her down (it was an extremely hot dry year)she was also drenched with electrolytes - not an experience I ever want to go through again.
She did have months of recouperation when at home and went on to continue her eventing career, getting her new owner to the Pony Club National Championships.
Lupi lou - that photo of you and Jack jumping the ditch is fab, I used to get eliminated at ditches as my first event horse didn't like them, took me ages to get her to jump them, will have to see if I can find any photos of me and her. |

he was all clipped out at one point, he was a little git in the ring though and turned into a rodeo horse (hard to belive I know!)he once went the full lenght of a 20x60 arena bronking with me, everyone was just shocked that he had that in him! |

Thanks Razee and BlackCat he def more of a jumper, he was hunted in Ireland before we bought him so you point him at a jump and he is off, doesnt stop for anything, unless of course he want to plant me on the floor lol he has told me many times 'I am not a dressage pony, therefor i will not do any of this poncy lark your trying to teach me' lol

I went to see my boy lance at his loan home yesterday, I even got a little ride :p although when I left it made me miss him way more :( but yeah I was a little upset because he has gotten underweight but when the spring grass comes through he will most likely get it all back lol he always gets a bit of a tubby one lol but it was a bit upsetting when I was stroking him and I could feel each rib with the lightest of touches (he's not looking bad though it may be because he has all that thick fluff or I'm just over exaggerating ) :( but he isn't too bad other than that.... Never seen him so fluffy ever... We always have him clipped lol so he looks like a little teddy bear he he :) anyway got a few pictures of him and he is looking alright
It was nice because as soon as me and my mum drove in he came cantering over with a loud whinny... So nice to hear the sound of hoof beats lol I miss all of it... The horsey smell, the sound of them walking on roads and stuff.... The cuddles lol.... But I gave him loads of love yesterday he had loads of big cuddles and that :) can't wait for my boy to come home and we can go back to how we were and I can hopefully get the little bugger in the school and work him without the bucks or the rears... And it's only in the school he does it...hmm...
Anyway here's the best picture I got of him... He is an itchy boy lol xD

Emmzi - Lance is looking good, it is hard when they go out on loan, did it with my welshie when I needed to move to a bigger horse but didn't want to sell him.
If he is anything like my welshie once the spring grass comes through he will start to pile the weight on and then you have the problem of stopping them getting fat.
@ Katie and Lozzy - I too think horse forums are far too opinionated and full of people thinking they know everything, lol. I am on a couple of groups on fb, but find them full of idiots - don't get me wrong I'm no expert, take chances and love nothing better than to go bombing round, but at the same time need to know my horse is fit, healthy and has the best I can afford. |

Emmzi, hope you won't have long to wait. :-) Bucking in the school sounds soo familiar :-) Lucy always hated schooling, but was perfectly ok out hacking, and could go all day. Must be a Welshy D thing, not liking schooling.
If Lance is like Lucy, he'll pick up quickly - she only has to look at grass, and blows up like a baloon. He doesn't look too bad on that photo, still has a nicely rounded bum :-)
It's nice, when you come to see them, and they do the little whicker... even though I suspect with mine it means - yay, will be fed!
Katie, Lozzy and Blackcat, I think you're right about the horsey forums. That's why I was never on any, I looked at some, when I was looking for some answers on internet. They all seemed so unfriendly, or overly opinionated, that I never even thought about joining any. Lozzy, I'm the same, I look after my horses my way, - I always thought in the past, that other people must know better, must be more experienced, etc., and made several major mistakes, listening to other people. You get so much conflicting advice... in the end, I just read up, find out for myself, what works best for my horses, and stick to that. ( Now I AM sounding opinionated Aaaarghh!!! )

| He he Razee, yep lance is like that he is a star when warmin up and walking... Ask for a trot and bam he bolts off and put on a bronco and is so naughty but he has always preferred being out somewhere with a bit more scenery to be nosey and have a look around.... Cheeky man doesn't look where he is going half the time and is always looking around :) bless him.... Even in the trailer he has his head sticking out of the window if its a hot day and we have it open lol xD....but yeah . Makes it worse because the yard he was at was a dressage place and all their horses were well behaved and that lot and there's lance bombing around like a loony lol xD we are the type to hack and do sponsored rides and stuff... Occasionally the odd cross country and show jumping but nothing major :) but hopefully he is a good boy for mummy when he comes home.. And yeah the Winnie sounded like an ohhhh food time Winnie to me lol xD |

he's lovley bless him I home you find a nice home for him. I also avoid the forums, their either too opionionated or idiots. Although i do have to put up with numptyness where i've got jack at the mo. i was asked the other day 'could we put oil in the water to stop it freezing?' then after i replied er NO, they then went on to ask 'well what about salt?' face-palm some people just shouldnt have horses.
It is nice though having this thread :-) |
