My 2 corns have lost around about 100-150g each whilst on their diet of 1 large every 3 weeks. Cereus is fine, he's all muscle now, I don't want him to lose any more as he is a nice shape and has no hips or excess skin. Sakana still has hips and still has a flattened circle appearance... I'm starting to wonder if she has an under active thyroid gland or something that is causing her to be overweight as although the scales say she has lost weight I can't really feel much of a difference and as stated she still has obvious signs of being overweight...
Cereus is 5'2" and is around about(removing weight of the mouse he ate recently) 775-800g. Very muscly and has a nice shape to him. Sakana is 5'6" and about the same weight as Cereus. She has practically no muscle unless she is using them to support herself(like when stretching out in front) or curling around something. She's still got the same size hips as she had when they went on the diet and is still a flattened circle shape sort of thing... |

Nah, she just be chubby lol!
Being serious, I've found that some snakes have great muscle tone, others, not so much. Take my Amel and my Snow for example. Same, gender, age, feeding regime etc. The Amel, is a muscular, zoomy thing, with one hell of a grip. The snow, well, she's a bit like holding a length of rope. Whilst there is muscle there, she prefers not to use it lol. |

Thanks lol I did wonder if due to her previous home(never handled as she was "Aggressive") she had muscle waste or something but she's pretty active(not out all day though) but just wondered. Thanks for clearing that up for me. |

Snakes aren't a whole lot more than muscle, been fat wont mean she hasn't got muscle. They have to be very underweight to lose muscle tone.
I do believe Female snakes are bigger and have the potential to store more fat as they need more than a male for breeding. (I wont go anywhere near a just like humans joke). Though if the fat one is longer than the thin one and the same weight I cant see how it could be fat. |
