I am trying to sort everything I need to move Martha up to a 3ft vivarium. Have decided on the following: http://www.reptilecentre.com/vivexotic-tobacco-walnut-lx36-vivarium-915x375x405mm_p4022377.htm
Following advice on here I think I will stick with a heat mat for heating. However I am thinking it will be rather dark so was thinking of getting a light. I have looked in various online reptile shops and have seen lots of UV lighting tubes (are these suitable??) but cannot seem to find any UV light holders. I'm probably just being stupid but can anyone help?? |

UV lighting isnt required for corns, simple LED (the low heat emitting ones) lights are more than suitable, and cheaper ;) |

Still waiting for that commission check so that I can retire in comfort. |

What do I need to buy to mount in the viv?
Yep that's it. It comes with clips that screw on so you can fix it to the viv |

Fab. Thanks. I asked about this in my local reptile shop and he said the cheapest price for suitable lighting for a corn snake was £50-£60!! I knew I was better off asking on here :) |

Oh dear. A lot of petshops are just out to make money on this sort of thing. Either that or they don't know enough about keeping the animals to give good advice. I will be getting some of those LED lights for my vivs when they arrive too Heard so many good things about them on here. |

Do you need to provide any protection for these ie. to stop the snake climbing on them and getting burnt? |
thanks

Personally, when I move my little guy up to his bigboy viv, I'm going to be providing a uv gradient for him. I believe that it can be benficial to all animals to have uv light exposure. A bit more expensive but i reckon its a good idea. :) |

They give out virtually no heat so LED's do not need to be guarded. Here's a pic of one of mine climbing on the LED's

Good find. That's £5 cheaper than from IKEA.
The Ledberg uses the same strip set of 3 and you can use 1,2 or 3 strips to fit the viv. So you could use 2 strips (21") in the 24".
Your choice. You could use the Dioder split between 2 vivs when you get more. |

Well you might just have persuaded me to get a set of them as a spare. I already have 6 set ups with Ledbergs but you never know what might turn up in the future. |

Auld i received the Strip light i ordered earlier so far id say its incredible value for money only faults for me was one bracket per strip when i feel they could of provided two and the wire had come loose from the driver so i had to fix that they are working now and seem like they will be nice when in my viv will take pictures when done to show what they look like. |

Was this the IKEA Ledberg or the e-Bay Dioder? With the Ledberg there should be a sealed bag with 6 brackets and screws, 2 per strip. I suggest you contact the store and make a complaint about having to do repairs and ask for replacements to be sent out. |
