Hey all, got a few questions,
Basically Ruby since her last feed on Monday has been very inactive and has spent most of her time in the warm end just lying down in and behind her warm hide, moving occasionally, when normally 3 days after a feed she'd be doing somersaults trying to escape but even when it's dark she still doesn't seem like she wants to move much. Her scales look slightly more creamy but it's only a very small difference that could just be me imagining it, her belly scutes have also still got a pattern on and most importantly her eyes have hardly changed at all although have read that can be the case with amels.
The setup is a faun warm end between 27 - 29*C and cool around 19 - 20*C, feeding perfectly last 7 feeds with me and poop standard so just wanted to know if this is normal behavior and also if it'd be advisable to skip a feed, I'm personally not handling till she changes but I presume that would be a good idea too? |

| does sound like she's getting ready to shed will probably go blue in the next few days. with mine i have noticed that their belly checkers pale off first then they will go in to blue, then clear before shedding. i personally dont feed but its down to preferance some snakes will eat during the shedding process others wont. again with handling i dont but my guys hide away and are a bit jittery so i leave them alone. all depends on the snake some dont mind being handled other dont like it. |

My amel goes quite a peachy/pink colour when he's in shed. His eyes glaze over and look opaque rather than blue. You'll soon get to know what's normal for your snake once it's shed a few times. Hope you get to watch it shed....awesome to witness.  |

| Yeah, it's much harder for me to tell when Ember is in blue than Corno - except for the obvious lack of being out and about lol. She just tends to look a bit pale to me, as if she's covered in chalk dust! |

Got to finally have a decent look at her eyes today (as most the time she has her head curled up in her body) and they did have a quite opaque look, like you mentioned herriot, not blue at all but certainly not red like they normally are. She has still spent all day in the corner moving occasionally but I'm just going to presume she feels vulnerable if her eyesight's poor and would rather not risk wondering around semi-blind lol
Got to say this whole process is pretty scary first time up and really just hoping it goes well for her  |

| I found a poop in her faun today and was just wondering if this is normal as have heard they usually don't do this again till they've shed (which I'm sure hasn't happened as can't see any evidence)? |

| thats normal some wait untill they shed others will poo regardless, 8 waits, jinx is a little poo monster and poos during the shedding process then again after a shed! |

Sometimes mine will poo while in shed, sometimes they do it in the shed itself (uck) and sometimes they wait until they're all done and have got a lovely new skin! If your little one is looking clear and back to normal it won't be long before she sheds, a few days at the most. You'll certainly know when it's happened...I hope you get to watch.  |

Cheers guys, that's good to know. In terms of progress she's still hiding away and because of that checking her colouring is a little tricky (I could try and handle but don't want to disturb her) so am gonna just leave her to it and hope (I mean pray lol ) I find a shed skin soon.
Also I skipped a feed yesterday (last being the 8th of this month) and was just wondering how long she can go without food presuming this shed faze continues well into next week? |

Snakes can go a long time without feeding so she'll be fine if you want to wait until she's shed.
There's no reason why you can't handle and feed her while she's in shed. Some snakes are fine but others don't like it. It's down to personal choice if you want to try and see how she reacts. If you would rather leave her then that's ok too. As you and your snake build up your relationship you will get to know what she prefers. |

Well it seems I was certainly worrying more than I needed to as last night the action really began, at first I just got a small glimpse of her having a good head scratch  then literally less than an hour later all done
One fresh, clean baby and one VERY happy owner!
P.S. Checked for eyecaps/tail and they all seem to be in order.  |

Well I saw the initially head rubbing but left the room with lights off as didn't want to disturb her, will defo try and get a look next time though . Overall it's just nice to know what to expect for next time.
And yep a nice juicy pinky coming her way tonight |
