Right, I've just moved places for the new uni year and I've taken Freddy with me (of-course). Anyways the average room temperature throughout the day is about 24-25*C meaning the cool side of his viv is the same; and his hot side rocking at 29*C. Is that too high for the cool side or should he be fine? If not anyone got any ideas on how to create a cool spot/segment?

Thanks,
Tom&Freddy

All fine, not much you can do about the ambient anyway, just watch the warm end, 29 is the upper limit.

Ok thanks. Hot end never goes a few "point-of-a-degree" above 29*C anyways plus its on a thermostat with a thermometer constantly monitoring it ;) .

Also Freddy is in a 3ft long, 1.5ft deep, ~2ft high viv at the moment which is a nightmare on the amount of space it takes up at my student house. So I was looking at getting a wooden Terranium (the monkfield nutrition) but not sure which size to get; 24" by 15" or 30" by 15" (both standing 8" tall)? It would them be his home for the next 1.5 years... would that be adequit for him? He's 1yrs 3months and 27" in length.

Thanks

The best rule to go by is length plus depth needs to be longer than (or at least the same length as) the snake. It really depends on how fast Freddy grows, although personally I would prefer to give my snakes a little more height than 8" once they're that sort of size.

Thank you. Thing is although he's long; he's not very wide (rocking at about 1 inch wide but feeds perfectly) which i think makes him a slow grower.

Ok taking into account what you've both said, i've decided against it. However I was wondering does anyone know of anywhere I can buy a vivarium for Freddy that is not as high as the one I have now; it stands at 18 inches. Perhaps one that is about one foot tall or something?

Thanks.
