Hey everyone,

I have just had a clutch of eggs laid, yippee!!

Last year out of the 25ish eggs only 9 hatched so this year i want to do better, she has laid about 16ish eggs this year.

Last year i put the eggs on vermiculite in a plastic container in a polystyrene box with a heat mat and thermostat, however the plastic box the eggs were in didnt have a lid on.

This year shal i put a lid on the box the eggs are in and only open this once a week?

Yeah u need lid on as that's what keeps the humidity up in the box with eggs in an stops then drying, you can also lightly cover them with spagnum moss

I have some moss so i might also give that a go, i have a layer of tissue on top of the eggs to stop water from dripping on the eggs. Just thought id ask about on here to see if there is any other tips so i get a better result from last year.

Last year most of my clutch were males does anyone know what the incubating tempreature is to get felames in the clutch i know its lower but not sure of the tempreature exactly?

The moss over the eggs will do the same as the tissue but the moss will absorb the droplets better and it will help prevent mold appearing on the surface of the eggs.

I don't think temp will change corn sex like it does in some lizards

Yeah i squeeze as much moisture out of the vermiculite and when i have used moss i do the same.

If the vermiculite gets dry is it best to squirt around the eggs or move them out of the container and place them back (i did this last year and im not sure whether this was why not all of them hatched - minus the duds)

Once they hatch i will post pics up i have bred my hypo lavender and my anertheristic corns together this year so curious as to what colours i get this year if they do hatch!!

If u keep the lid on an only remove once a week briefly for fresh air, u shouldnt really loose any of the moisture in there as it will be collecting on the lid an driping back in, that's why u put moss over eggs so they don't get dripped on. But yeah if u need to just drip a bit of around the eggs make sure its at right temp though.

I created 2 separate ones on mybannermaker and pasted both IMG codes next to each other. You can do this or Georgina is making some brilliant ones with images you send her as long as you make a donation to this website. When I get some decent pictures of my snakes I will be using her skills
