Yes it is. I sometimes have to turn it off at night though, so that's not ideal. I'll try to keep it running now :) |

Question - I have 2 eggs that are rather dented (as if they are dehydrated, they've been dented for most of the incubation period even though I had paper towels over them) and they are quite yellowish. It does seem that something deveped inside though...
What is the proper course of action here? They've been incubated for well over 55 days now, and none of the eggs have hatched. Should I cut the eggs that look so bad just in case they can't come out on their own, or wait and see what happens? |

I'd suggest waiting as its not considered "late" until 80 days onwards. I think 55 days is the earliest you would expect a clutch to hatch so I'd definitely give it a bit more time :) |

-nods- I'd normally do the same, however, the eggs have looked quite bad from day one, so that makes me quite worried. Not sure what to do, especially as I might not be around when the others hatch naturally :S Oh well :) |

You could try candling them quickly to see if there are any dark shadows in the egg.. meaning there is a snake inside it? I wouldn't worry too much yet about them not hatching until later on, they could have a couple of weeks left yet Do the eggs still feel "soft"? they should have a leathery texture to them aswell One of ours went mouldy and hard so we cut it open and there was a TINY worm in it and hard yolk |

I can hardly candle them because they're so darkly coloured. They stil feel leathery but are so deflated that I'm not sure they're still okay :S |

My dad's class (he's a primary school teacher) has the stream on all day during class. We made a contest out of it - the first person to see an egg hatch gets to name the hatchie ^^
They thought they saw a "crack" in one of the eggs today, but it was a piece of vermiculite. False alarm! Can't wait for them to really start hatching... |

As you can see on cam, there are a few yellowish eggs that have dented in quite badly. I've felt what they feel like, and the shell seems quite hard... I'm worried that, if any of the bad eggs still has a live snake in them, they might not be able to cut through the shell. Has anyone experienced this before, and do you have any recommendations? |

Chek out QueenVic's posts - she had the same problem and eventually cut into a few of the eggs - had a good success rate though in the end! Good luck :) |

Thanks for the hint. I'd already read the thread, was just wondering if more people had experience with this :) |

Oh wow... little update here. Saphira's already had tons of feeds again after her egglaying and everything looked fine. She just pooped again (she already did that regularly) and with it came a tiny slug that was so small that I hadn't even noticed it in her body at all. I hope she's alright o.o |

Yikes, hope there's no more in there - although hopefully if there were they'd be tiny enough as to cause her no problems like that one!

I took the 4 worst eggs and carefully opened them - only to find a solid white substance in them. I guess I can now safely say they were slugs.
I opened another one that looked very mouldy, but it had a clear liquid oozing out. Made about a 1cm cut for it, then put it back. Now it's time for nature to do her job :)
Slug I found today:
Tool set to cut open the eggs:
One of the slugs I opened:
What it looked like on the inside (didn't cut it like this until I was absolutely sure there was nothing in it):
And to show there's really nothing inthere at all:
