Ok so Munki is due a feed today but ive never done it before! I watched some videos of other snakes feeding so got the bbq tongs out and wiggled the pinkie a bit. It just seems to stress him out though. Every time the pinkie got anywhere near him he recoiled. Am i doing something wrong? I left the pinkie in there for 15 mins but he just hid away so i took it back out. I did hold him for the first time after the 'settle in week' just before so maybe i should leave him to settle back in first? HELP!!

are you feeding him in his viv? if so leave it in there over night.

are you feeding in a seperate tub? if so cover it up with a teatowl( making sure he can breath) and leave him for anything up to an hour.

just suggestions

I had the same problem when I first got Frank. I put him in a tub then brained the pinky (crush the skull and pierce the skin). My two love it if the pinkie is warm and wet (hot water from the tap'll do the job. Don't worry about teasing him and shaking it around till he is happy feeding from you.

Your BBQ tongs might be a bit intimidating... Perhaps steal your mums/sisters/girlfriends eyebrow plucking tweezers ;)

If that doesn't work, try this.

drop the pinkie in with him and leave him to it - check the morning after and if its gone then jobs a good un! :)

Waving it about in front of him will only stress him out and he's unlikely to take it by the sound of it.

Ah good luck, it's always frightening when you don't think they'll take the food! I fed by tongs to start with, but now I hand feed. It just feels a bit more personal to do it that way. I tried for the first time warming the pinkie up in water today as well, and he seemed to love it! :) Hope all goes well for you!

Aww any luck? I don't have any tongs so have never done that, just pop the warm wet mouse in the feeding tub with Corno and wait for her to find it! I can understand it must be very worrying for those whose snakes don't feed easily :(

:-( just checked and the mouse is still there. What do I do now? Leave the pinkie in for a bit longer? Take it out and try again later? I know they can go for ages without a feed but this was my worst nightmare before I got him :-(
