Alright guys,

Just set up a viv and getting it running, noticed the temps at 40C! So grabbed out the snake to let it cool down and adjusted my thermostat. Now, my stat is telling me the mat is off and the temp dropped to 25ish. Now the viv is closed again its slowly gone up to 31. What can I do to get these temps down?

Crisis averted. I had the probes and thermostat on the heat mat above the newspaper/aspen.

Plonker of the year award goes to me for having the heat mat plugged into the mains and my thermostat plugged into itself!

Just waiting for it to cool down then hopefully have a comfy snake.

Ok numpty mistake 2. I plugged the Nintendo 64 into the stat instead of the heat mat (after thinking I'd fixed it) and the heat mat was still plugged into the mains..........

I've checked it 4 times and I've got all the plugs where they need to be!

I was getting hotter than the 7w mat! Can't believe it hit over 40! The place I get my snakes from told me you don't need them if you just place it on the side of the viv....

Well, that just shows you how good that place is to recommend putting a mat on the side of the viv for a cornsnake anyway. They are the numptys lol

Lol. Maybe putting a stat on a 360 would solve the RRoD problems?
