Does anyone know what type of wood the handle of brooms are made of? As they are quite thick thought about using them as climbing aids for the adults.

The hardware store near me has some that says 'hardwood broom handle' and then on the info sticker say its made from eucalyptus, I only know this because I had to get one for work last week. I'm not sure if there is a universal wood that they normally are.
