Hi all, can anyone tell me how many hides you should have in a 3ft viv. I have some bark at warm end over heat mat, bark at cool end and plastic tube at top back, where she seems to love. Oh, should say I have a 15 month old Okeetee corn.
Reason i ask is in many pictures of other owners vivs, there seems to be only one hide. does this encourage them to sit out in the open more, instead of hiding all the time as mine does.
Heres a pic of my viv.
The heat lamp is timed to come on during the day only.

A minimum is one at the hot end and one at the cool end of the viv. The more hidey holes and cover the better. It gives the snake security and something to do by way of exploring.

A single hide is pretty useless as the snake needs both hot and cool areas to thermo-regulate. It will not appreciate feeling exposed if it has to sit in the open to either warm up or cool down.

The older the snake gets then the more it will sit out and 'pose' but you can't force or train it to do so. It might eventually find a favourite perch and act like a wannabe python but Corns are ground snakes by nature.

Thanks for the comments and answers. I think thats cleared it up for me. The pics I have seen with just one hide, are not very good examples then.
