ive been speaking to a few people and have had a browse online, i was told that sunkissed can look anything from normal to almost hypo, but the main difference from normal is the head markings, which lightnings are really askew and that their underside is checkered bt half cream blending to orange. online i notice something that goes hand in hand with sunkissed which was called stargazing could someone clear this up.
thanks
p.s this was the same store that tried to sell me a cremiscle as a full blooded corn today |

stargazer further reading http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13133
I have several sunkissed gene snakes, 2 of which will be bred 2013, they have ben tested by Douglas (Scotsman on here). I also have a male stargazer to test breed my other possible het stargazer corns.
Stargazing can be curbed so long as breeders are responsible and test their lines from sunkissed animals. Otherwise it is going to get worse not better. Im not just talking about massive breeders also the hobbyist that breeds a single pair can cause every bit as much damage.
This is one of my biggest gripes at the moment, and until folks start testing it will be very high on my preacher box list.
edit: sunkissed is a form of hypo ;)

My understanding of the situation is that sunkissed as a gene is totally seperate from stargazing, but that certain breeders who bred the original sunkissed lines didnt really bother to persevere in removing the stargazer gene from the animals they bred, and as such is is prevelant due to the lineage of the moprh... So you can get sunkissed now that are completely free from the SG gene. If you are going to get one and dont know if its been tested, you need to test it yourself, as the effects of the gene can be easily seen on other threads here.
Myself i REALLY REALLY want a honey motley, but cant be sure of the parentage, so wont get one :( |

I think colours usually blend more towards the ventral area. My normal had really nice black and white at the top end and then blacky/orange and white at the base! |

Grey area? That'll be the anery and charcoal morphs....
The 2 tone white to orange, with black checkers, is normal.

i mean areas such as star gazing that isnt 100 percent understood and how different morphs could have different traits. |

stargazing is 100% understood, what is not clear anymore is what snakes have it. It was originally discovered in sunkissed okeete i think so sunkissed is a good place to start testing. For example the gazer I have isnt sunkissed its an ultramel. There will be more and more gazers turning up in collections over the next few years unfortunately.
@Oakleyman, Im testing a pair of poss het gazers that will produce honey motley ;) |

I will be breeding 8 clutches that may produce gazers but will definately produce het gazers. They will not be sold. You need to test breed to find out if my snakes carry the gazer gene, if they dont i can breed them and happily sell them on with a clear conscience and gazer free for other people to use as breeders. If they do prove to carry the gazer gene then they will not be used for breeding.
Am happy that people will ask questions about this :D it is a serious issue that too many people are ignoring, which in my opinion is worse than what happened originally.
should also clarify: Im test breeding a pair of corns that if they prove clear will then be paired and hopefully produce honey motley's |

The majority of the test clutches may well be PTS or passed onto others that are looking to test for gazer. Nope just some look worse than others but no differing strengths. |

you take a stargazer and breed it with the test animal. If the tet animal is het gazer you would see some gazers hatch, if the test animal is not het gazer then no gazers will show |
