| Hi guys, my hatchling had her 2nd feed with me tonight, in a separate rub on kitchen roll,all went well but when I put her back in the faun she dived straight into the cool hide, I'm a bit concerned that it's too cool for her to digest, is she likely to move to the warm hide of her own accord? |

| My corn will even digest its meal fully in the cool end. They know best, if you have provided the right temperatures and good hides in both ends then they will do the rest. |

| Mine spends almost all his time in the cool end. Half the time he doesn't even use the hide that we have that end for him. |

I think my temps are good, warm side 28.5-29.5/cool end around 22.
I'm still learning and as she is only a baby and a bit skittish still,I don't know if it's normal for her to digest in the cool hide. |

| Yeah your temps are good at that. Similar to mine. Fed mine yesterday (bout 7pm), and she is quite happy this morning exploring and climbing around its faun! |

| Quite often mine decide to sleep off their meals in the cooler end. I do find they tend to take a little longer to poop and I usually allow them an extra days digestion time before handling just to make sure but I'm not certain its necessary. |

for everyone saying 'yeah mine stays in the cool end/hide'..............have you tried turning the temp down a fraction in the warm end?
i must admit this is more noticeable with my boas than my corns (boas are mainly in vivs, corns are in RUBs) but the temps were reading spot-on with the digital therms but they were mainly in their cool ends which prompted me to check the temps with my OH's properly calibrated temp gun........and yes, the temps were all a couple of degrees above what the therms we reading. tweaking the stats down a little has meant them all using the whole viv for thermo-regulation again  |

| I had to do that with my Boa too, I put it down to guidelines are all good and well but there will be an element of personal perference involved too. Spot does what he pleases, sometimes hot end sometimes cool end, no pattern to it my mat is already a degree or 2 lower than the guidelines but it is about watching the snake. If its in the cold end most to all of the time its likely too warm in the hot end same as if it was always in the hot end its probably too cold in there, you soon find the balance that works for each snake as an individual and as long as your not straying too far from guideline temperatures then it should all be fine. |

| That's a good point about the temps only being guidelines, but I have to say up till now my corn has spent roughly the same time in each hide. After her 1st feed she was in the warm side for 24 hrs and I haven't changed the thermostat and the temps have been the same since set up. |
