Hi all,

I was just hoping that somebody could advise me on if Fluffy is the right weight.

I weighed him yesterday, and he is 556g, and approx 3ft 8in.

Is this a good weight for a snake of this size?

Thanks

All about body shape, is he a loaf of bread shape?

What are you feeding him and how often?

am feeding him 1-2 mediums a week. I think it averages around 1.5 medium mice per week. If im honest, i didnt think he looked at all overweight. I was actually more worried that he was underweight! I wouldnt say he is a bread loaf shape, he is sort of oval. When you pick him up you can sometimes see small ridges muscle along the top of his body, so it doesnt seem to me that he has a large amount of fat on him or anything...

It does sound like your overfeeding I'm afraid. He is a bit small for that amount of food and its probably a good idea to rethink what you are feeding before it becomes an obesity problem. I would personally reduce to 1 suitably sized mouse every 10 days, thats is more than enough, corn nsakes are supposed to be very slender and skinny snakes with a body shape of a flat belly, straight sides and a curve oever the top, a bit like an upside down 'U' (or a right way up 'U' if you turn the snake upside down).

i'd probably feed a medium mouse fortnightly as he does sound a bit hefty for his length
monitor his weight monthly and you can make any changes to his diet as neccessary
