i picked up one of these thermometers from P@H today while i was out

http://www.petsathome.com/shop/thermometer-by-exo-terra-28203

and being a newbie, im not sure where about to put it in the faun,
on the warm side? on the base of the faun or the side?

sorry if it seems like a dumb question, i also aim to get a better one once i have a bit more cash handy, but got this one for now rather to be safe than sorry :)

thankyou

Mind is changing on snakes I want now lol so am researching these to find out what would be best - Milk Snakes and Dwarf Boa possibly - Crawl Cay, Sonoran, Tarahumara or Vera Cruz and poss a Hoggie, African House and Rat snake. Also Trinket Snakes.

These dials are not really accurate, even if you lie it flat on the base at the substrate.
