|
hi all i have had my corn for about two months and he is approx 6 months old and he has been a fantastic shedder up un till now.his last shed was 27th of november and he started to shed last noght with no warning signs of sheddingand only bits of his skin has come and the majority of it is still on .i was wondering the time inbetween his last shed and shed last night is to short. and will he be ok ime really worried about him |

Hi there-
First of all, don't panic, your snake will be fine 
You have a couple of things to try to get the shed off-
1. Provide a moist hide for him (sphagnum moss is good, or shredded damp kitchen towel) and make sure there is something in his enclosure to rub on
2. Give him a 20 minute soak in some shallow water at around 27c, measured with a digital thermometer. Then allow him to slither through a towel, hopefully removing some of the shed
3. Pop him in a damp pillowcase with either a piece of wood or rock to rub on, or some reptile bark, and leave for around half an hour. |

| The pillowcase works brilliantly when I have had to assist with a stuck shed. As for the time between sheds Sis had a stuck shed and I had to help him. He then shed again 2 weeks after this with no problems and has been fine ever since. I would say keep a close eye on the end of the tail as mine often have a small amount of shed stuck here, hardly noticable but it needs to come off. |

i tried the pillowcase and put his bark in it with and left him in there for about an hour.but i had no joy with this so i gave him a bath for about 20 mins and this worked thank go

I always find that in the winter months when the heating is on in the appartment, there is a drastic reduction in the humidity.
Once the heating comes on and the snakes are in blue I give them a quick mist from just after their eyes clear until they actually shed. This normally sorts out any shedding issues.
I would point out that misting is only lightly and only once or twice a day for the 3 or 4 days at the end of the shedding process. This has worked for me and my first corn was a really bad shed.
I did have to help my annie with her first shed it wasn't very nice to see and she gave me the smallest nip afterwards (I think it was her way of thanking me)

| yes bathing always works but keep any eye on the tip of the tail shed as my hubys girl just had a bad shed and we had to do the bath n towel thing also not to alarm you but if you dnt get it of by the nxt shed it can cut the blood of to the tip of the tail and it will fall off,so keep a look out. :) |
