They lead with their head, they push on things with their head as thats all they have to test things out. I've also seen my snake pushing his jaws into alignment on my hand, they normally realign their jaw after eating but they sometimes need to do it at other times.
He will calm down in time, some are calm within a few weeks some take a bit longer, just carry on with regular short handling sessions and he will calm down. |

he will calm down as he ages and with perseverance the jumpy and skittish is very normal for a snake that age.
and some snakes just rub their heads on your hand for no reason whatsoever they just seem to do it. |

my corn is the same, and she is nearly 5 months now, had her since mid november she does like to nose about, nose into my jumber, or on the couch she has calmed down lots, dont handle her every day, but every other day (apart from leaving her 48hrs after feed)
she sits on my lap quite happy now, then goes for an explore |

My carolina was the same only nippy with it I was ready to give up on her thought she would never calm down but in recent weeks I've notices she has settled right down... (ive only had her since September so taken around 3months total to notice a really big improvement which isnt long at all) still wouldn't choose her as the snake to get out around visitors mind but she's nearly there. I used to handle her every day but it seemed too much for her (everyone is different) so now I get her out every 2-3 days and she seems much more chilled with that idea. |
