Or should I say snakes? And that goes for other pets as well.
When I started with corns I thought they should have corny American names, so the Carolina got called Buffy - suits her rust and buff colouring.
As I was lifting Spider(anery) into her viv, I said, 'Come on, Spider.' So that was that.
When my ghost corn arrived she said she was called Salome Spooks. Spooky.
Saffron, the butter, couldn't really be called anything else.
When I got my one-eyed Miami, my ex said, 'What are you going to call her? Cyclops?' So then there was Cy.
Emily, my ginger cat, was named in honour of Emily Bronte. She was semi-feral, and when her cousin followed her to my house one day I took one look at this little waif and said, 'Hello Mouse.' And Mouse she remained. A feral tom arrived a year later around St Patrick's Day and was named after the Irish hero Finn MacCool. That's Finn.
The fish don't have names.
In honour of mikerichards, I've decided to name my stick insects Dave. I have at least seven, so I thought they could take it in turns - Mondave, Tuesdave, and so on. Trouble is, I can't tell them apart, so I never know what dave of the week it is ...

Ember's name is what it is because of her colouring, the Embers of a fire ya see ;) I'm so clever!
Loki is kind of named in honour of my deceased Royal who was named Odin, but I have no idea where Odin really came from. My boyfriend's bad at thinking of names, and so my only suggestion was Odin, and we went with that ha.
If Ember turns out to be a boy, I'll just have to go through the thinking process all over again though! |

Tangoo got his name cuz its orange hahaa.
elly my choco lab was already named when we got her :/
Murphy my old english sheepdog was named after our horse (dont ask! lol)
Billy my black nd white cat was called that cuz.... well dont relii know :D
Cookie my ginger nd white cat/kitten was called that cuz his patches are the shape of cookies :P
Milla (pronounced Miyaa :P)my other ginger nd white kitten named after the actress Milla Jovovich who my dad loves :)
Millie my West Highland Terrier x Cairn Terrier was called that cuz i thought it sounded nice :D hahaa
Alfie my sisters foal was named that cuz she picked it lmaoo :P
nd then the 30 odd fish dont have names hahaa :D

Hissin-Sid is because that's what Kevin wanted him called.
Dillon because it means faithful.
Ellie because it means to bring light and I was in a dark place after my dog died.
Alfie in memory of quite a few special people.
Peanut because she loves peanuts.
Izzy because she's Izzy the lizzy (Lizzard) Daft, I know!
Echo because I rhymes with Gecko
Ebbie because it could be Ebernezer or Ebony depending on male or female.
Twiglet because the mums name is Twiggy.
Fish no names.

Thats breaking the rules... 
Dinger is named after a character in a film i was watching - Dream A Little Dream - because it sounded great!
Goonie is named after the film 'The Goonies' because i full on love that film
Felix is named because i saw an advert on the telly and it just seemed to fit
Salem is named to match Felix (because they are both stripes) and so is named after another cat - Salem from Sabrina the Teenaged Witch
Harrison the royal is named after George Harrison because lets face it, The Beatles are brill
Max the monitor is named because both Max and Monitor begin with M. Ooooh originality!
Gravy the leopard gecko is named so because its the first thing that came to my head when i saw him
Seth the leo is named after Seth Green because they are both short
Alice the leo is named because she is albino and both begin with A
Taz the leo is named so because she is absolutely mental
Duchamp the leo is named after a character in Stand By Me
Ace the leo is named because he is the first critter i hatched myself
Murphy the leo is named after Cillian Murphy

Mushroom the gerbil is so because she is mushroom coloured (yep, brown)

Hannibal the gerbil because he was beating everyone up when i brought him home
Derek the goldfish because thats just a silly name for a fish
Kappa the betta fish is named after a charater from Sunshine
and Grayson the doggie is again named after Robin.

I've been trying to post pics but can't get my head round it yet - pestered Kehhlyr on the photos sticky and then some other guys gave me advice - I really will get my head round it one of these days. Plus I've got to find out the best way of transferring photos from my phone ... chaos!

Saffron is a cute name :)
Venom, normal corn, was nameless for about a month as I couldn't think of a name so when my mum jokingly said that my snakes name is "Venom" to the neighbours to scare them, it stuck lol
Char, anery corn, as when I first got her, her colouring looked like a lump of charcoal
Rattles, anery corn, because he rattled his tail from the day he was hatchinging, I'm sure he was rattling in his egg too lol and 6 months later he still is also, because of the cider, "cornish rattler"
Ember, normal corn, because or the nice firey red colour..
Tigger the tabbby cat because my sister is lame with thinking names.
Socks/kitler, cat, as he looked like he's wearing socks and has a Hitler tashe
Ginger/Jonesy, ginger cat as he's ginger/looks like the cat from Aliens
Queenie, chicken, as shes top chicken
Buzz, chicken, looks like she's had a buzz cut on her head

Alice - named after one of my eldests friends. she asked him to name the snake after her even tho its a boy (so we are told but getting him probed this week)
Izzy - Came with the name and kept it despite finding out he's a boy
Carmellia - a combination of caramel and amel kinda
Peanut - butter
Kizzy - came with the name
Jack - all the foster dogs are named by support dogs, the client or the sponsor

mine were rather simple I went with names that related to the snake or colour/morph
kellogg - obvious one
scotch - butter (as in butter scotch)
Ginger - an bright orange amel so seemed fitting
flake - snow another obvious one lol
yosser - butter dont know if any body remembers boys from the black stuff the character yosser used to head butt people (blame my old man for that one)
annie - ghost taken from a bbc programme called being human the ghost was called annie
dusty - gold dust
kerry - another butter as in kerry gold butter
and the two royals victoria and elizabeth
and the gecko pair are george and mildred
and my lovely old mongrel is called jess
a friend named her after an ex girlfriend |

My little list seems pathetic compared to all of yours! lol but i'll give it a go....
Carolina corn called Loki as in the god of mischief, he's a very mischeivious little b*gger!
Green Spot Snow corn called Isis, continuation of the mythology theme (kids wanted to called her Bogey coz of the green spot!)
Black and white cat called Pickle, i was pregnant at the time and craved pickle on ritz biscuits!
Pure white Tom cat called Frosty (obvious choice!) has one blue eye and one yellow eye so wanted something to do with david bowie but couldnt think of a suitable one.
White and tabby cat called Ziggy, as in Ziggy stardust, continuing the david bowie theme! |

Alice Cooper is a boy and he loves snakes so is a perfect name.
Two normal corns...Bobbo and Bobbette. So named by my son. We did try to change them to Samuel and Ella after Samuel L Jackson (also chosen by my son) but Bobbo and Bobbette had stuck already even if they are a bit ridiculous.
Leopard Gecko...Mrs G just because of the gecko thing i think.
Fat old bulimic tabby cat...Louis because the vet told us she was a boy. Turned out she was a girl. We only found out when she went for her op and by then Louis had stuck too.

shikira (okeetee) cos when i first got her she always used to come out when shakira (the singer) was on the radio
Max (ghost) cos she turned into a he and couldnt be called may although his full name is maxamay
siass (carolina) just cos there is alot of sss in the name lol
dime (hypo carolina) cos she has a diamond head marking
pippa (carolina) cos she was the first baby i had out, and first pipped
goldie (amel) cos well thats just obv lol
topaz (butter motley) cos after the original yellow topaz stone and she is obv yellow

I feel so embarrassed!
I only went and missed out
MY ROYAL PYTHON - SHAHI!
Poor baby - he lives upstairs while all the rest of us were downstairs - I know I've only had him 5 weeks but still ... And I'd fed him that afternoon - another good strike feed, and written it up in the feeding and shedding diary ...
Anyway, Shahi is Urdu for 'royal'.
I have a feeling I may get a girl (not intending to breed - her viv will be in the other bedroom) and if I do her name will be 'Seya' after my favourite track by the singer Oumou Sangare. Other names I'd thought of were 'Susheela', 'Sulah' and 'Siyaya' - the last is an African phrase meaning 'moving along' - perhaps not that appropriate for a royal, though Shahi's pretty lively round feeding day. So anyway, Shahi, my apologies ... (Did try to edit my original post but it wouldn't let me.)

I only have a small list lol
Cecil our royal - was decided before we even had a snake lol we joked about that our first would be called cecil and it stuck lol
Sydney de la Dory aka Syd - Our Amel rescue corn, when our friend first got her she wanted to call her dory but i wasnt keen, but remembered that dory went to sydney in nemo ;) so i combined the names as i wanted to keep dory in it as our friend did rescue her first from the mean old man! lol
Jenny - Our snow was a unexpected purchase at kempton, and for some reason all the way home i had in my head forest gump (when he says my jenny) so it stuck lol
My goldfishs are all called dave, had various versions like, new dave, another new dave, dave that ate the other dave, and so on...
Our kittens - black one with white splodge under the neck is called patch, and the all over blacks called spike cos his tail is like a spike (both female and named by my dad lol) the grey kitten i named Greg, dunno why it just instantly went into my head when i saw him lol.
Mummy cats called thumberlina, her sister which was given away was tinkerbell again another random naming i dunno why i chose them lol
Daddy cats called mog, he was found about a month old livin in our shed! no idea where he came from, but hes a proper moggy, thinks hes the bees knees of cats lol
Our St Bernards called Daisy, my sister picked that name, i aint a clue why!
Im picking up 2 baby giant african snails next week and they are going to be called Bill and Ted :) |

my half of the corns are named after various cities/towns/states in america..
Mont is short for Montana as in the state,
Edison is a city in New Jersey,
Liberty is a small area in Pennsylvania,
if I'm allowed any more then Harmony (Pennsylvania again) or Findlay (Ohio) are on the list - although i do like Beavercreek aswell lol but dont think luke would like it!!
Lukes three are named for various reasons;
Lucien being one of his old nicknames along,
Zero because of Zero the dog in Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas..one of my favourite films
and Aura after Aurora from the disney films..again suggested by me! haha
The Royals are Q and Little One;
Little One because hes so dinky for his age and Q because he was originally Queenie when he was with GP and instead of changing the whole name it got shortened to Q
The King snake is Simba 'cause I kept referring to him as the King snake and Luke suggested Simba from the Lion King, another great film!
Our chickens, past and present are/were
Gravy - because gravy goes well with chicken!
Bettina - named by my mum and I'm sure there was a reason why!
Camilla - my brothers
Daphne - my sisters after the Scooby Doo character,
Ginger - because shes more ginger than brown
Brownie - because shes more brown than ginger!
Woody the budgie because I loved Toy Story at the time!
Jinx the mouse because whenever I had him out something went wrong elsewhere
Skye the budgie because she was blue and my sister wasnt very original at choosing names
Casey the staffy because it was my favouurite name at the time.. and it was a toss up between Casey and Bella and at the time I hated Bella - although when I get a bulldog in a few years she will be called Bella!

Tof - short for Tofu, the food, which is white, quite fitting for a snow corn
Mr.Bojangles - me and my friend had a pact that the next animal i had, had to be called this lol
Barry - my father named him, that's all i can say..
Phil - only other person at the time who i knew had a giant african land snail haha
Hannibal - always wanted to call one of my animals that!
Twix - we did not name him, the shelter did, but it was because of his colours
Trixie - already came with the name, and cause i am just a surrogate at the moment, i thought it only right to keep the name.

I've just named my new corn Ruby as she was born in July and its Julys birthstone but if she turns out to be a boy then her name will be changed to Kaiser, Kaiser Chiefs sang Ruby and are also one of my favourite bands.
Jordan's snake was called Savara after a character from a book he likes but she is now a he so Jordan is trying to think of a male name.
I have a 16 yr old ginger cat called Simba from the lion king and a tabby moggy called Piper because I used to like Charmed and loved the name.
Just wanted to add to that I also have a Saffron in the house too, she is my nearly 11 yr old daughter and we just loved the name and also its the most expensive thing you can buy, oz for oz its more expensive than gold. |

Dave because of the programme league of gental men where the guy goes around saying "hello Dave" and so for some reason i went up to the capniet saying "hello Dave" nd this snake popped its head up :D
Pearl becuase of the little circles on her back :)
Bubbles came with the name :) (Hamster 3yrs)
Angel because she was Pure white :) (Gerbil)
Cookie because me and my boyfriend used to get cookies every saturday :) and i didnt go one saturday because i went to get a differnt type of Cookie (sad i know XD) (Gerbil)
Fudge because she was Brown and White :) (Gerbil)
Capo shoert for cappochino :) she looked like a coffee colour :) (Gerbil)
Sooty becuse she was pure black with white strips like off of the programme Sotty and Sweeps :) (Gerbil)
Pippin came with the name when we got him from the Blue Cross but we later found ut it was from Lord of the Rings :D
Barbra nugget and Crinkle :) Brabra because it was diffent :) Nugget coz he is Yellow and Crinkle coz he has a kink in his tail :)
