im looking at piecing together a starter kit, as none of the kits i have seen are 100% what i want. i also think i can do it cheaper!
for those of you that have seen my posts, i have lots of time to wait for my snake so putting together my kit bit by bit isnt a problem - it will be in place long before my snake arrives!

so i have been looking at stats, more specifically habistats & i have a few questions:

1- i see the habistat mat stat powers heat mats up to 100w. but there are other stats that power up to 600w. the largest mat i have seen is below 100w so what is the need for a 600w stat?

2 - i am planning on buying a habistat mat stat 100w for my hactchie. when he/she gets bigger and i move it into a viv, will i require a different stat? my logic says no, just a larger mat (that doesnt exceed 100w) but i thought i would check.

3 - pulse, dimmers and off/on. i understand the differences between all three. the mat stat 100w is off/on. i know this isnt the best as temperatures drop and rise all the time by a few degrees. on/off must be ok though right or it wouldnt be on sale? is a dimmer overkill? would a dimmer stat be a better long term investment?

clarification of my questions would be much appreciated

1. for other methods of heating that are over 100W eg. ceramics and rep rads
2. trust your logic....you're right
3. corns do fine with on/off type stats, dimmers oten have a minimum load that's way above the wattage of your average mat
