Im getting my hatchling in a week and im not sure how to handle her coz she so small.
I got my 2 boys when thay were late teens going on adults so big dif on size.
Plus im not sure on what stuff i need for her and when i need it.
In the shop shes in a small tub on a bit of kitchen roll with a bog roll tube and a small water bowl, theres no heat source, so when do i introduce a heat mat and so on.
I dont have much cash to spear so can i get the bits i need over 3 to 4 weeks or do i need to try and get soon as poss ? 
Shes a anery motley and she gorgous.  |

To handle a hatchie is pretty much the same as your others, just be aware that she's more delicate and can move quicker. Most of the time once they've settled down in your hands it's no problem.
You'll need a heat mat ASAP really, and a faunarium set up so she can have an adventure with exploring the new digs. You don't want it to be too big, otherwise they can feel a bit overwhelmed, but something a little interesting would be good. Feel free to use bog roll tubes and a small plant pot upside with an opening cut out of it, or even a smallish cardboard box would be good. The only thing that will cost you would be the heat mat and fauna, but even then they aren't too pricey =] If you need any ideas on how to give her some hides without spending too much, just look on here. You've probably seen those posts around anyway!

The faun, heatmat and thermostat would be an essential to have set up before you collect her. You can make hides cheaply out of loo roll tubes, small boxes, egg box, one of those dishes you put plant pots on.
As for handling, just be as calm and confident as you can. Don't let any rattling or striking put you off. She will be quicker than your older snakes but if you handle her over her tank for the first few times, if she drops she will drop somewhere safe. |

| hatchings do lash out more as its the only thing they know how to do so don't be surprised if it tries to bite you, it doesn't even break the skin so don't worry :) and a anery motley? jelous much :P |
my aunties, bestfriends, hairdressers, friends boyfriend had a snake and it stretched out to measure him to eat him......true story.....

Definitely need a thermostat attached to the heatmat as kdlang said, otherwise you will cook your hatchling. You say there's no heatsource in the shop but it's probably just that you can't see it. If she is in a little plastic tub in a rack system then there will be heatmats running the length of the shelves in the rack, all controlled by a thermostat. The plastic tubs sit on top of the heatmat.
I had one of mine from a hatchling and it took about four weeks for him to slow down. I always handled him over the bed so there was no fear of him falling and just let him roam around, guiding him through my hands and on my lap etc. He's never tried to tag me. When picking up just be firm but gentle and use both hands. Also, remember to let her settle in for seven days before handling or feeding and I'm sure things will go swimmingly. I bought home a hatchling yesterday and compared to our other corn who is a adult and we got as a adult its fast! lol! we had to transfer it from the small tub to its new bigger tub yesterday and it was very fast, it was quite skitty as she was in new surroundings and did nip me a few times but honestly it didnt hurt, can describe it as a tiny needle being dragged very litly across the skin lol it dint even make me flinch lol
as others said tho use both hands and cover her with one to stop her trying to fall down the back of something (i made that mistake last night and nearly lost ours down the back of our chest of drawers in the transfering process last night! heart in mouth moment!) |

I am so jelious, have just convinced the O/H that just one more snake is a good thing, I bought Marge in april, a bit bigger so she was a more established feeder and settled in her behaviour, she was 26 inches long, a hatchie for me next time.
good luck with yours, any thoughts on a name yet? |

Off topic but is Twilight an ANERY ??
I have a young ANERY corn snake but it's grey where Twilight is white .
I read somewhere that Anerys usaully go a brownish colour with age which seems a shame as it's the black/grwy/white colours I like about them .
I saw some pics in this forum a few weeks ago , of some young Aners that looke d jet balck and brilliant white and I was very jealous ..any idea who it was who was talking about getiing it ?? |

ive seen and ordered a heat mat and getting a stat on the same day i pick her up, i have already got a small faun, plus ive got 2 digi thermomiters coming off ebay for £2.60 each (result) so i think i should be sorted. :}
How long is best to leave her to settle in ?
I'll get some pics up as soon as shes home just before i put her in her new home.
