if you cant handle frozen pinkies(regardless if they have 1 leg missing or no legs at all) then maybe you shouldn't have a snake?

its all in the food chain, snakes eat mice in the wiild only they can be injured in doing so, these mice are killed humanely for food purposes and are bread for such.

some people need to toughen up, a funeral for a food item????

i dont bury my chicken fillet if its still got blood on!!!!

I find it really hard to relate to people that think the same as you, I honestly couldnt care less.

If it helps, when I buy them they always have bits missing, so unless you saw yourself do it I very much doubt you did it.

When I buy my pinkies, they all have at least one limb missing... I often have some with all missing and then the left over paws in the bag.

I am a very squeamish person, I hate blood, organs ect... I faint if I see an organ or if I see a lot of blood in real life but pinkies and dead mice really don't phased me. I guess maybe I think of it s food rather than an animals if that makes sense? Maybe you'll do better with bigger prey items?

Try not to think of them as a mouse but as food for your snake. mine regularly have bits broken off too. At least its one less limb for your snake to get its mouth round

It's when you get a large mouse/rat that splits is the fun bit.
The only way to clear it up is with Doritos.

well what can i say I'm not use to keeping dead mice in my freezer i think a chicken fillet's a bit different from a whole mouse a baby one at that i am getting there just guess it will take time and as for me not having snakes i think that's taken it a bit to far i will get use to it but it will take time.

it's a snake, it's not gonna care whether Stuarts got 1 leg or 8000.

Personally, it's been bred for the snakes dinner, I wouldnt care if a leg fell off. I agree with Matty really. Personally, I think your'e being slightly overdramtic. The Pinkie's dead, it wont feel anything.

So having bits of dead cow, sheep and pig in the freezer is ok, but mice are too upsetting?

It's a state of mind. I was umming and aaahing about getting a snake, because I adore mice and wasn't sure if I could deal with feeding them to a snake, but I changed my view to -

Live mouse = sweet
dead mouse = snake food

To be fair, the amount of brainings and guttings and now beheadings I've had to do, you do get over it!

Pinkies always come with a limb missing, I've only ever found one with all it's limbs, and it was like finding a four leaf clover!!

I think posts saying 'get rid of the snake then' is a bit harsh, she obviously loves the snake, and some people have different tolerances.

You'll get hardened to it, just keep going with it, and try and change the way you think of the mouse.

Remember, it's dead, it can't feel anything

LOL

When i first got Xena i had to cut the legs off so she could get it in easier. Personally i just regard them as food. My OH is like awww how can you do it. I am like its part of the parcel of keeping snakes I am afraid. Its never bothered me. Guess thas why i keep snakes and she keeps cats (which would kill a shedload more mice given half the chance)

I have to be careful when I get the mice from infront of the freezer, they do look very sweet, but its the way the blood splatters up the microwave and the boiler that gets me into trouble!
My mice are bound by one rule, they bite, they die, simple.
I have to feed one of my boas live, which is a bugger, but this one time, it survived, she didn't take it, so I was gonna let it live, but no, it bit me on the way out, WHACK!
Dammit, blood on the viv, over the wall, I just can't win!

Still, the scent of blood does make the snakes feed very well!!

Oh, I killed a pinky the other day, damn thing split from head to a*se!
Moral is, don't hit pinkies too hard, they just can't keep themselves together!
