Sounds like a trip to vets may be in order. How old is the snake, how long have you had him and how long has he been acting like this? |

I don't very often advise this but, vets asap. From experience this isn't a promising sign. When he ate is there a chance he consumed some bedding? I fear he may not make the night. |

Really?? That's shocking advice, you can't do that, that's worse than just leaving him. That's the worst advice I have ever heard, and I have heard some blinders. Do not do that, it won't kill him, only make him hibernate.
If I was you I would phone them back and say they have a duty of care, what they have advised is tantamount to neglect and cruelty, I would report them, name and shame, that's disgusting, I am livid that they would advise that. Tell me who they are and I will ring them. |

He's a Dave? Awesome name! I need a dave! Its a hard choice, ideally the vet should get off their lazy shoddy **** and do their job. There is only one proper way to kill a snake painlessly, and you won't want to do it. I suggest ringing them back and asking them to do their duty. They do actually have a duty off care, and that means not letting an animal suffer.

Has he been drinking ok? The only thing really is to make sure he is comfortable. I don't really know what else to say. I really would complain about the vet though, am still fuming about it and its not my snake! When you look at his belly is there anything out off the ordinary? Red specks, like a rash?
My replies may take a while from time to time as I am working tonight. But am still here! |

Do you know much about how the previous owner kept it? Maybe they sold him off because they thought he was ill already, could be Septicaemia if he had an RI before that didn't get treated, 1 inch girth sounds a little thin my snake is just over 2 foot and his girth is 3 inches around at the largest part. I'd definitely try and find a rep vet http://www.reptilevets.co.uk should be able to find you some locally. Doubt there's much you can do now just hope he hangs in there til tomorrow and get him down the vets.
Signs for Septicaemia may be subtle or obvious and may include lethargy, anorexia, dehydration, and regurgitation of incompletely digested food, redness to the skin and scales, or bleeding from the skin.

he hasnt been drinkin much to be honest .....but there is nothing unusual on his belly......we have checked him over and there doesnt seem to be anythin out of the ordinary apart from his behaviour....we've got him as comfortable as possible like u suggest but to be honest i think it could be too late :'( |

Septecemia was where I was going with the belly, if he had that then its just a case off making him comfortable. If he was living rough then he could have picked up any number off nasties. If he makes the night then get him to the vets. Deffo not the one you spoke to though. Its hard but there is nothing more you can do, its not a nice situation. |
