Medusa is due to shed any day, she (actually I'm sure she is now a he) has come out of the blue phase so I got her out last night and this happened when she looked like she was about to go to the toilet on me!

The images aren't totally clear but basically it looks like skin but it's not peely its quite chunky. I know the logical thing is to wait until she has shed to see if it removes this, but has anyone seen their snake to this?!

Thank you

it looks like the shed around the vent has become loose and started to peel away - libs has managed to shed her tail before the rest of her body in the past.. looks like she isnt far off shedding but keep an eye on her just incase it causes some problems for her

When they shed they shed the skin around the cloaca too, and sometimes this doesn't come off properly, it can also become fouled so it looks lumpy and a bit grim, but it will just peel off, a bit or a soak in warm water will help.

Thanks Hannah and Mike, this is exactly what I did last night, gave her a very shallow bath and she shed overnight! The shed is the first whole shed she has done for me so very pleased about that, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get her out to have a look at her before I went to work but will do tonight... However looking at the shed, there is a darker thicker bit so I'm happy that this anomally came away too.

If she hasn't shed properly for a while then the vent is deffo one of the places it sticks, generally because it gets soaked inpoopand then sticks even more and becomes crusty.
