With a stat to keep a constant(ish) temperature, it should be fine.
My tanks hover between 27 and 30 celcius, never to cold, but sometimes a tadge warm.

Our stat's rubbish, it fluctuates between 25 and 35 if we don't keep an eye on it, even with adjusting every hour it still has two or three degrees fluctuation. I don't know whether it's the brand or what but it's worth remembering that even a stat doesn't guarentee a constant temp. I think the 11 by 11 will definately be warm enough though.

I'd have gone for the 6"x11" mat to allow for the room's ambient temperature, especially when you've got your central heating on.

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos

i've just made cecil a 15"x24" viv and just placed his 6x11 mat in on a thermostat.
its keeping the viv at a lovely 28-31 constant.
will I have to upgrade his mat as he gets bigger though?

I'd go for 11 x 11, its enough to cover just under half the tank.
