Woo hoo! I've just got a microwave steriliser off a kind lady on Freecycle and it's going to revolutionise the way my snakeys have their stuff disinfected. Just tried it out and I can get 3 water bowls in at a time, so it'll take 5 minutes rather than 40 to keep them germ-free.
So excited!
How does everyone else sterilize their stuff? I usually use either a bucket or the bath with a solution of baby sterilizing fluid in and leave it to soak for as long as possible.
The steriliser I've just got should be used for babie's bottles normally, so at least kids are good for some things |

Just boiling water here, should I be doing more?
How often do you sterilise everything to that extent? |

Boiling water should be fine. It would kill the germs anyway.
I do the water bowls every few weeks, because they are the most likely to get germy, but only do the entire contents and the viv when I clean them out properly (probably every 6-8 weeks).
Except for Nagini- who is dirty and needs cleaning out about once a week because she poos everywhere. It's not unusual for me to have her stuff soaking in a bucket, because she's not bothered where she puts her brown stuff- on her hides, plants, up the walls and most commonly in her water bowl. She's a right scruff! |

I use boiling water diluted to one:ten bleach (more water then bleach obviously) as I heard that was ok then leave them to soak in cold water for a few hours. |

Sterilising? I just wash things up in washing up liquid if they get dirty or wipe them down with a damp cloth |

I'm not allowed to mix snake stuff and our plates and stuff.
Lewy shouts and calls me a scruff! Especially if I use the microwave for warming up Evra's mouse |

The one and only time I microwaved a mouse I over cooked it, it started blowing up with gas/air/whatever. As this went past its vocal chords it made the mouse squeak!!! I was so traumatized I've never done it since! |
