I've noticed recently that one of my new Snow hatchlings moves in a jerky action when she's being held. She doesn't seem to do it in her rub. She shed about a week ago and is feeding regularly with no problems.

Could it just be stress from being held or something else?? She certainly looks healthy enough otherwise.

Does it look like she is flinching?

No....she seems quite happy to be on my hand but when she moves from hand to hand she does it in small jerky movements.

Yep....she seems to move normally the rest of the time that I've seen.

This might sound a bit weird but make sure your hands are clean and dry and check that its her movements and not her sticking to your hands a bit. I realised this when i first got my corn, when i washed my hands before handling and didnt dry them properly.

Yeah I know what you mean but all hands are clean and dry before handling. Hubby says it feels abit like there's an electric shock going through her in pulses.

Sounds odd & without seeing the snake do it, it's hard to tell. Could be neurological problems ?

Took a couple of videos but it really doesn't show it very well. It feels almost like she's got hiccups....like it's coming from inside her.

Is there anyone local (not a vet) that you can take her to see?, maybe to narrow down the possibilities.

If she's fine in the RUB though, it can't be something neurological?

Although is it very visible, or do you notice it in your hands because you can feel it too?

Yeah....I think it's more that we can feel it than see it. Can pop her up to a friend up the road with snakes to have a look at and see what he thinks. I'm not too worried as she's a happy little thing and loves exploring and is eating well. Just wondered whether it was something to be concerned about!!!

Well I took her up to our local rep shop and they had a look at her for us. They said the jerking is just a normal reaction to not being comfortable yet with being held and is nothing to worry about. None of our others have ever done this but at least we know she's ok
