Im intrigued about the feeding in a smaller container, I wasn't really advised much about feeding when i bought mine the other day, so a sandwich box would prob be ideal, i thought after feeding you left him 48 hrs so will he just slither out of the container into the viv ?
forgive my hijack, but it's kinda along the same lines :)

Hi, congrats on your new corn. I feed my Corn and BP in seperate containers only because i have them on aspen substrate and i wouldn't want them to accidently ingest that. What substrate are you using? |

Probaby crushed oyster shell. People say its fine and digestible but id rather be safe then sorry.
What i do when my snakes have finished feeding is wait for them to start moving around the tub and 'exploring' i then gently pick them up and place them straight back into their vivs. |

Dan's right...better safe than sorry. I've always fed mine in his viv (but I do use the biggest pair of tongs ever seen so my hand is always kept well away from his mouth!) and so far not had any problems. I use aspen would chip so it doesn't tend to get stuck on the food like the shavings can. |

hi, is your first viv quite small? if so i found carrying it upstairs and sitting in a dry bath while handling and for feeding, they are very fast and in there they cant escape! lol |

I always feed mine on a feeding mat (just a plastic coated picnic mat) in the middle of the room - Saves them associating opening the Viv door with feeding, although i use big tongues:
This is Casper strangling his already very dead mouse on the mat

the main reason people recomend to feed outside the viv is because some snakes associate the viv being opened with food, so it increases to risk of a nip. and the is also the risk of the snake consuming some substrate, you could place the mouse on a piece of kitchen towel |

Big tongues Lewy? Don't you mean tongs? You'll end up with snake bite marks all over your mouth if you use tongues |
