Hi, congrats on the new corn!
It is nerve racking when you get your first snake but soon you'll be used to it and wanting more and more lol

Do you have any questions in particular?

Give him/her about a week to settle in before handling, then you can start handling him for a little while each day and he will soon get used to it.
If you just pick out any mess when you notice it the viv should stay clean, give it a proper clean out about once a month or so.
Make sure he has access to fresh water at all times though.

Lewys written a really good caresheet on corn snakes, so read over that and any more questions just ask :)

Congratulations on the new corn (post some pics on here when you get a chance). Once again, Dan has hit the nail on the head...give him/her time to settle in before handling and then just give them time. I used to take mine out for a few minutes a day until he was used to me. Now he's always out, and even if I'm busy he just goes in my pocket and lets me wander the round the house...I just hope one day I don't forget he's there!!! One of my first questions when I got him was "how do I know he's poo'd" lol.....I've since discovered that baby snakes are like baby people....so its not hard to notice when they've been to the loo. Just scoop the dirty bits out(making sure you get rid of it all) and then just clean the whole viv out once a month or so.
If you have any more questions just feel free to post them on here. The great thing about this site site is that even if one of us doesn't know the answer then someone else nearly always does.

Congradulations a corn snake is the perfect pet. When i got my little guy i was pretty nervous about caring for him. I just researched a lot online and bought a few books and since then have become pretty knowledgable about corn snakes. Its a very good hobby to have and never dissapointing. Dont be too nervous corns are fairly easy to please and keep healthy. I do recommend finding a vet specializing in reptiles close to home and having their number on hand though. You never know when you will need it and your baby should go once a year for a checkup!!
