Hi everyone :) I fed acorn her first "fuzzy" last week but I'm worried these aren't actually fuzzies and might be a bit too big for her :s What do you lot think? Heres the video of her eating it:
And heres her after she finally managed to swallow it: (took her about 15-20 mins and she had trouble with the front legs bless her!)
Heres a link to a video of her eating 2 pinkies (out of 4) which I gave her yesterday to use them up but you can see how TINY they are for her: http://s331.photobucket.com/albums/l467/JR88M/My%20Snake/?action=view¤t=MOV00345.flv (I know it looks like I'm playing tug of war with her but I'm not pulling that hard really!) What do you lot think? Should I just stick with the larger "fuzzies"?
Thank you

just from the bulge in that pic i'd say it was a pretty large meal, how big (length/weight) was the fuzzy? might be worth leaving her an extra day on her own to digest it, and an extra day between feeds. |

Thats what I thought, the bulge looks huge! I left her about 4 days before I got her out just to make sure she had eaten it. And she was very hungery for the pinkies 7 days after it, as you can probably tell in the second video. I will measure a similar sized fuzzy when I get back home from my friends house, but I think that one was probably about 2- 2 1/2 inches long and it was the smallest out of the lot! Do you think it would be worth me buying some proper sized fuzzies online? I don't want to be over feeding her or underfeeding her. I only have 3 pinkies left and my local pet shop only does those tiny pinkies or those massive fuzzies. Thanks very much for your help :D |

Buying on line works out expensive by the time you have paid the postage. You will be better off trying to find another reptile shop in your area. |

unless you're doing a big order *kicks BE under the table* it's not really worth it. the giant fuzzies sound more like rat pups, are there any other shops you could get to? Jolleys stock frozen rep food if you're near to one of them. |

Hi everyone, sorry I've taken so long to reply, have had exams. I have managed to take a pic of the difference in size between the pinkies and the "fuzzy" to see if you think they are fuzzies or not. If they aren't I might try speaking to the people at my local pet shop to see if they can get any ordered in. They are frozen in these pics so I guess they might be slightly larger when defrozed. Heres the largest pinkie with the smallest fuzzy (the fuzzies are about 2-2.5ish inches, My digital scales havent arrived yet so cant weigh them sorry):
Heres all of them:
What do you think? Should I give her the smallest fuzzy or the 3 left over pinkies for her dinner tomorrow? So far she has been eating 4 pinkies for a few weeks then gave her the fuzzy (pic earlier in post) two weeks ago and then back to 4 pinkies (see video) last Saturday. Thanks again for your help, sorry I'm such a noob at this I just don't want to over/under feed her :S Jen |

from our "fuzzie" that biggun looks too big!
Look for "Mouse Size Guide" thread, very useful charts on there.
Try her on 1 small fuzz if she does well, then keep going that way;
if not try her on 2 bigger pinkies.

Thanks you two :D I think you are right about them not being fuzzies after having a look at the feeding guide they seem too well formed, more like the hoppers. If I was to get rat pinkies would they be ok for her? I can take these "fuzzies" back then and exchange them for rat pinkies if they are suitable as I believe mice pinkies are too small for her and even after 4 she doesn't have much of a lump. Thanks again! You have been so helpful :DD |
