Waiting for Bella to shed at the moment so we're trying to disturb her as little as possible, but the wee monster has done a poo right over her heat mat and it STINKS. Will it be OK to clean out her viv around her or will it freak her out too much?

Should be totally fine... It would probably be worse for her health to leave the poo in there than the very small disturbance you'll cause by cleaning it up.
We had James out when he was fully in blue - we didn't notice his eyes until we'd got him out, and he was perfectly fine bless him...
