I've just been to B&Q to get two new timer plugs and they have digital ones on sale for £2.98 each, save £0.96p if you buy two. They seem quite good and can do upto 140 programs a week as well as having a countdown timer and a random function. Its way over the top for turing my light on and off but at half the price of a conventional unit I had to try it.

i found the digital timers a lot more reliable than mechanical ones, so they're well worth the buy :)

Whoops, thats not very good is it. These were on a random stand, not in the same place as the other timers.

Yeah when i got them they were up by the till, All my reps lights and heating is on timers coz i'm rubbish at remembering to turn the lights on and off. It makes it so much easier when i'm away too, if it's only a couple of days i can just leave them too it, any longer and my neighbour only has do feed the lizards and give fresh water.

I've changed my mind about these. I've had them for two weeks and so far two have broken (I only bought two!). If I go back any more often to change them at B&Q they might as well have someone in the car park to meet with replacements every dinner time.

Then I suppose there's some truth in the saying - 'You get what you pay for'

Had mine running for months with no problems we have 8 of them - could just be a bad batch?
